Polium, a company that is promoting the products and infrastructure of Web3 gaming since January of this year, has just announced a new console for Web3 gaming. For those unaware, Web3 is the actual buzzword of the proposed new iteration of the internet, a network that will use NFTs, cryptocurrencies and other blockchain technologies.
DAY’S THROWN VIDEO OF THE DAY.
The console, named the “Polium One”, will offer eightK HDR graphics and many other features, but not all that far from the best of what Sony and Microsoft are currently offering. The controller can carry haptic feedback and a touchpad like DualSense, with additional features such as a touchpad and a personalised ID system for more secure purchases on crypto platforms. Of course, the controller will also have a wallet button for easy access to all those new web 3 games.
Relais: Axie Infinity is a classic example of what Comes for NFT Games.
According to the official roadmap, a prototype will be made “in a few months” before a planned launch in 2024. The orders are not yet available, so their price will be much sooner rather than later. It is certainly true that the orders are being made through a NFT minting process.
You should open your wallet so you can catch your eye on the game. First, there are no games in the Polium one. The site shows a prototype UI which lists Grit, Axie Infinity, and Decentraland as titles, but none of these games have confirmed compatibility. Polium says its “currently in talks with multiple game developers” to bring their titles to the Polium One.
There are also no specification available for this console, so we don’t understand how Polium plans to out-perform a PS5 with its promised 8K graphics. The embarrassing short business plan is packed with buzzwords and hopeful words, but it is not clear yet how a new version will be made, and in a world the heavy chip-and-chip shortage has been broken.
But rather shockingly, there is little information about Polium as a company. We don’t know who they are, where they’re locals or how to contact them outside of an disclosing channel. Over the next few days, Twitter users reported that the company blatantly ripped GameCube off its console.
Because crypto and NFT games are so full of scams that even the US government has finally decided to give up, I’d say to keep the crypto for now.
