Will Wright, who was the most famous architect for the project The Sims, is developing a blockchain game which uses cryptocurrency and NFTs. VoxVerse has received more than 25 million dollars in funding so far, so it’s likely to be a metaverse game that allows players to buy land and items on the blockchain, although Wright would like to avoid having solely attracting the NFT.

In an interview with Axios, Wright says he doesn’t want to sell NFTs and instead wants to market VoxVerse to a more large audience. As for any NFT feature, the whole project is being managed by Gala Games, a company that wants to pay more attention to its own NFT collection.

Wright hopes that VoxVerse – an online game on the large cube – will appeal to three different players. The first will be the ones who finance the entire operation. Blockchain enthusiasts are helping. Wright seems to envision a kind of trickle-down economics stemming from this group, where their dealings keep the game’s economy going for other players, and investing in land plots in form of NFTs. They will rent their crypto-bought land to the next group, the creatives.
Because of the code working, all money that creatives generate from their work will be shared with their “landlord”. Wright likes them to the players who create fan content for The Sims and is pleased that this is now officially monetized.
The final team of players will be the ones who actually use the creations that other players make for them. This is the group Wright seems the most excited by, saying that he’s “a much more interested in attracting a million free-to-play players than 10,000 rich whales.”
It’s unclear how VoxVerse will set itself apart from other crypto-based metaverse projects, such as Decentraland – which’s not doing well now. VoxVerse isn’t currently available.
