The Crypto Company makes and then deletes retrogame nfl networks before realizing it didn’t own the rights

MetaGravity is a crypto company that created the Retro Arcade Collection. This collection was launched just last week and consists mostly of retro games that was turned into playable NFTs so that they could conserve “abandonware games” on the blockchain. As mentioned in Waypoint, these “playable” NFTs included games like Blizzards Blackthorne and Remedys Death Rally.

Although most people are shivering in NFTs, people at MetaGravity Studio didn’t quite understand how IP rights and licenses work, thus creating a number of NFTs and selling them without permission. As you’d expect, some of the NFTs were reported, so the entire collection was deleted.

A license, in its essence, seems to check out for the purpose, but didn’t want to be thrown into any debates, as it’s not in the spirit of that collection, said Rashin Mansoor, founder and CEO of MetaGravity Studio. We also stripped all the games and moved the NFTs over to mint passes to play the newnative retro game.

Unsurprisingly, any of the already claimed NFTs which have now been deleted work no longer as intended. Patrick Klepek decided to try his keyboard before they got deleted. The browser became tangled so it wouldn’t work. Before they were seized, I played a demo of Death Rally, Blackthorne and even an arcade shooter Total Carnage.

What is unreal in all that was whether MetaGravity was really authorized by the relevant parties to create and sell these NFTs such as the one they were in. The studio labeled the games “abandonware”, but wasn’t clear about what classifies a game as such.

It is quite hard to tell the validity of many abandonedware, but we went to help to ensure that we were using freely distributed versions of games,” Mansoor said initially to Waypoint. I’d like to preserve abandonedware as a general like a lot of abandonedware sites did, but that would take it on a side of caution. We also added a DMCA form to our site so that copyright holders may request takedowns if any of these are not a normal form of e-mails.
