South Asian tournament organiser Skyesports has partnered with content platform Rooter and chip manufacturer AMD for the upcoming season of the Skyesports Champions Series (SCS).

Hindi and English streams will be broadcasted on Rooter and YouTube. AMD will provide CPUs and other components for the LAN finals.

The SCS is a major VALORANT tournament series in South Asia. The best two teams from the tournament will advance to the VALORANT Champions Tour APAC Challengers Stage 2. The $30,000 (~£23,950) prize pool event is open for players from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bangladesh.

Dipesh Agarwal, the Co-founder & COO of Rooter, commented: “We are excited to be associated with Skyesports for the Skyesports Champion Series 2022 as the broadcast partner. Such events exemplify India’s actual esports potential. As the demand for high-quality content is rising, through Rooter, we will provide a platform for fans to watch premium content in seven different languages.”

Alongside partnering with Riot Games for the SCS, Skyesports has organised a number of tournaments in Dota 2, Free Fire, League of Legends and Real Cricket across India and neighbouring countries.

Rooter is a large gaming and esports platform in India where players stream and share gaming and esports content. This is the first event that Rooter and Skyesports are collaborating on since Rooter acquired broadcast rights for Skyesports events early in 2022.

Shiva Nandy, the CEO and founder of Skyesports, added: “AMD and Rooter have been key players in the esports and gaming industry in South Asia and we are thrilled to welcome them to the Skyesports Champions Series (SCS), one of the biggest PC tournaments in South Asian esports history.”

Esports Insider says: Esports in India is steadily growing. It’s good to see large tournaments in PC games, considering that the country is still mostly dominated by mobile esports players. The possibility of advancing to the higher tiers of the VCT is also a very interesting possibility for Indian teams.
