Itch.io Accuses Crypto Copycat That Stealing Its Code

by AlexGM24

Itch.io got fairly definitively defeated NFTs and cryptocurrencies. “NFTs are scams,” said the indie dealer on Twitter. If you think it is legitimately useful for anything other than the exploitation of creators, financial scams, and destruction of the Earth, we ask you to reconsider your life choices.

The DAY’S FEEL WILL YOU GOT!

Itch.io banned NFT games and accepts only fiat currencies as payment for any games sold on its platforms, something that he’s still similar to Steam. However, a new online games company has popped up, which does not only accept crypto payments, it also features a design that looks suspiciously similar to its storefront.

It is a classic example of what to come for NFT games.

W3itch.io does have two tiers of the same name, but it also seems that it has the same design as Itch.io, to point out that itch creator Leaf Corcoran accused the copycat site of being a “rip off” on Twitter (thanks GamesIndustry.biz).

“You did nothing wrong with itch.io, blatantly ripping it off, to make the use of our name in the projects,” wrote Corcoran, on the WW3itch.io webpage. To a good extent I mean, this is a scam to trick people with a set brand, @itchio. Your own profit is driven by the use of this brand as a tool. I request that you remove any likeness, including our name, from your project immediately.

Corcoran said that most of the games being sold on W3itch.io are “stolen” from rpgmaker.net without the consent of the creators of the games. W3itch.io didn’t respond to this accusation, but a year later admitted that it used its own CSS file on its own site. The developer promised that a meeting would discuss these issues, but the developer was in a different timezone.

The annual fall of the NFT sales volume is down to its lowest in nearly a year because of the cryptocurrency crash and almost daily reports of fraudulent transactions, hacking and outrageous theft at different NFT games. In addition to NFTs being widely seen as bad for the environment, it is not always surprising. As far as crypto mining goes on, real gamers can finally afford to upgrade their video cards. Invest in the environment, and play.
