Esports tournament organizer BLAST has announced a new tournament, BLAST Rising, with a prize pool of €30,000. The tournament will feature sixteen direct invites EU teams from the lower end of the CS:GO rankings.
When Will BLAST Rising Take Place?
BLAST Rising will take place over three weeks from May 4-22, 2020. Polish agency Polish agency Fantasyexpo will produce the tournament and the matches will go live on BLAST’s Twitch channel. CS:GO fans can watch the live-stream here.
At BLAST we love the elite and allow everyone to be a part of Premier through the Qualifier Series and the Race to the Global Final, but have created BLAST Rising to support teams and players at all stages of their careers.
By giving teams and players more opportunity and exposure in the way only BLAST can, we want BLAST Rising to be a platform that drives forward their personal and team growth.

Each week includes four match-days. With the rest of the days off, teams can prepare for the upcoming week and study their opponents.
Who Will Take Part in BLAST Rising?
The tournament will feature sixteen CS:GO teams from the lower echelons of the CS:GO rankings. BLAST will announce the list of participating teams on April 28.
What Is the Format of BLAST Rising?
The sixteen teams will form four groups of four teams each. The teams will play each other in a round-robin format where each team plays the other twice in Best-of-one matches.
The top two teams from each bracket will advance to the single-elimination playoff bracket.
With the rapid spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, several esports LAN events stand canceled. IEM Katowice 2020 was one of the first tournaments to move online. Since then, tournament organizers have either canceled or moved various tournaments online. FLASHPOINT Season 1 and ESL Pro League Season 11 took place online as the world’s best teams competed in regional leagues.
Most of the top CS:GO teams are now competing in ESL One: Road to Rio. The Road to Rio tournament grants Regional Major Ranking points, which will determine the list of teams receiving a direct invite to the Rio Major in November.
