Like the Red Apes, the news seems to have been made up for all the wrong reasons lately. Earlier this week the hack was huge, with 13 million dollars worth of goods and services stolen. It was the second scandal of the month, with the first one about Discord that enluded users to sending information to scammers for falseneous accounts.
Now, it’s being reported that this happened again. Scammers pretending to represent the new Bored Apes project, Otherside, are tricking potential investors into napping with crypto for no cost. According to the initial report, the phishing scheme has made 6,2 million dollars so far, with the one wallet making off with only one million.

As reports indicate in web3 are going really well, the wallets suspected of being involved in the phishing scheme were identified early today. Unfortunately, most of the tweets that explained the scheme can’t be seen anymore, as the user who made it public has been restricted to the account. In the replies, others say it is also the scammers’ doing.
The Bored Ape community recently was the earliest victim of hacks. For a security breach, 600 million dollars was taken from Axie infinity players in April. Lazarus, a prolific North Korea hacker group, was named as the perpetrator in this case. The company that powers Axie Infinity, Ronin Network, is left to help pay the bill and compensate affected players. And it’s highly unlikely the FBI will succeed in helping getting the stolen crypto back by himself, given the group’s skills and anonymity.
