Winter Tour Regional Finals And Patch 7.31

Winter Tour Regional Finals is Valve’s answer to the Major.

It was not long when Valve announced the cancellation of the Winter Major because of the pandemic. They have come up with a replacement for it in form of Winter Tour Regional Finals.

The lack of communication and cancellation of a highly expected tournament caused an uproar in the Dota 2 community. Many people gave their critical views against Valve and their functioning as a game developer.

Valve have openly apologized in their blog for not understanding the community and player’s requirements. They have also reasoned how different tournaments like Bi-regional ones were not a practical solution.

Finally, the multi-billion dollar game developing company has come with a solution which involves three regions. These regions will compete amongst themselves.

February 11-13, 2022: WEU, SEA, SA
Feb 18-20, 2022: CN, EEU, NA

Top four teams from each region will compete in a double elimination tournament with a $100,000 USD prize pool. The distribution is:

  • 1st place: $50,000 USD + 250 DPC points
    2nd place $25,000 USD + 130 DPC points
    3rd place: $15,000 USD
    4th place: $10,000 USD

Valve has also shed some light on DPC point discrepancy because of the above format. More details on their blog post.

The company has also confirmed that new patch 7.31 will release after the Regional Finals end.
