Professional players in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) and other games with a competitive setting are known in the community for their nicknames. Some pro players, however, had a lot of creativity on their minds when creating the names they use in national and international championships. The Ricardo “boltz” Prass for example, has a curious story behind his nicks. Lets have look into six CS: GO pro players with funny, creative and even controversial nicks.
Andreas “xyp9x” Højsleth
Andreas “xyp9x” Hojsleth, from Astralis, has a very interesting nickname. He has won three Major titles and represents the best CS: GO team of 2018. Andreas has a nickname with a difficult pronunciation, which was randomly chosen by the athlete. When he was asked about his nickname, Andreas replied that it is said “zipéx”, since, according to him, the 9 when inverted horizontally resembles a lower letter “E”. So his nickname is “xypex”. On Reddit , community members made a joke that the nickname popped after the pro player smashed the keyboard.
My alias is hard to pronounce, but I’m never going to change it??

Ricardo “boltz” Prass
Ricardo “boltz” Prass is a renowned Brazilian player in the competitive landscape of CS: GO. He Formerly represented SK Gaming and MIBR and currently competes in Luminosity Gaming. Boltz is known for his good aim and good spray control, but also for his similarity to Disney’s animated dog Bolt, which was released in 2007. So his nickname is “boltz” as a reference to the super-powerful animal in the movie.
Ollie “DickStacy” Tierney
The nickname “DickStacy” has already attracted alot of controversy to Ollie Tierney. That’s because the player qualified for IEM Katowice Major in 2019 with Grayhound Gaming and, when sending his signature to Valve to use as a sticker, published a photo with clear erotic image. Not only his nickname “dick” already refers to the male genital organ but also the drawing exposed by the signature also referred to the organ. With that, Valve rejected the sticker twice, until the pro player left a more appropriate signature.
You hate to see it my friends. I did send in the worst first. Was worth a shot. Going for a more clean artistic approach.?? pic.twitter.com/x49C66O1Kb

Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer
Anyone who reads “Happy” imagines Vincent Schopenhauer, a French player from LDLC and a former Vitality athlete, to be really happy. However, the pro player has earned this nickname in an ironic way, since it is rarely seen laughing while playing. Happy celebrates his feats with the closed face and, even if he is happy, does not usually demonstrate.
Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt
Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt has great self-esteem. This is clear in his nickname, “Natural Born Killer,” which is a reference to his keyboard and mouse skills in the game. The player has been clinical for the success of VItality in the past few months.
The Natural Born Killer will get back to work today. Not letting this major slip through my hands, no matter who we play. WE FIGHT ???
