The Tug of War: Dire qualifiers of Americas and Asia ended today. Two more candidates have prevailed to secure a spot in the Main Event, that will take place in July. Eight teams will compete for the trophy and a an attractive prize pool of $ 300,000.
WePlay! Tug of War: Dire Asia
Six South East Asian teams and Sixe Chinese sided competed against one aother for the last spot in Asia. Out of these twelve teams, four received direct invite for the event. THe invited teams had the privilege of competing straight from the qualifiers. Royal Never Give Up (RNG), EHOME, Power of MYSG+AU and Mineski were amongst those teams. Unfortunately, Mineski was eliminated in its first game of the competition, they lost to EVOS Esports 2-1 Meanwhile, MYSG+AU and EHOME also fell prey to Neon Esports and Invictus Gaming. Mineski and EHOME Losing in their first games of the competition, is probably not a good sign. Since in less than 14 days, both are competing in the last Minor of the DPC to qualify for the EPICENTER.

Meanwhile, RNG earlier secured a spot for the Major and their recent form in the Tug of War: Dire shows that the side is ready to take on the top team. Earlier today, in the grand finale of the competition, RNG took just 90 minutes to demolish Neon Esports 3-0. Meanwhile the MVP of the tournament, was Du “Monet” Peng, who displayed exceptional performances on the Drow Ranger, Weaver and Chaos Knight. He was additionally awarded $5,000.

The American edition of the competition had its fair share of controversy. The invited team for the quarter finals were, Beastcoast, J.Storm, paiN Gaming and Infamous. Problems rose when Infamous met paiN in the semifinals of the competition. You should know that paiN had an All-Brazilian roster, meanwhile, Infamous hosted four European names into its lineup, which led to them being rejected in the SA regions.

A few days ago, the leader of the side, Mariano “Papita” Caneda wrote a comprehensive post on Facebook, where he talked about the problems the side had in SA scene. Since team didn’t practice with them and those who did leaked their tactics to future opponents. As a result of this and other controversial statements, Pain refused to participate in the coin toss against Infamous. The Brazilian side also showed up late in the match lobby which led to them being disqualified and Infamous proceeded to the grand finals.
The other grand finalist was J.Storm who defeated Beastcoast 2-1 in the semifinals. The J.Storm side just recently made changes to its roster and it was evident since they were outplayed by Infamous. Now Infamous will compete in the WePlay! Mad Moon LAN tournament for $300,000. Despite the loss, Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok the carry of J.Storm was voted as the MVP and was awarded with $5,000 prize.
