Fragadelphia 17 was a CSGO tournament that took place in Philadelphia, USA. Despite having a $100,000 prize pool, this tournament attracted a couple of big names. In fact, there was a controversy over Evil Geniuses and the organization’s decision to have two teams.
Despite the protests from the community, EG had two rosters called Evil Geniuses Black and Evil Geniuses White. The first team failed to impress after it was eliminated in the quarterfinals. However, the second one continued its dominance and won the event.
Fragadelphia 17 – What happened?
Evil Geniuses White consisted of the following players:
- Josh “PwnAlone” Pigue
- Ben “ben1337” Smith
- Jonathan “djay” Dallal
- Jonathan “Jonji” Carey
- Wesley “viz” Harris
Inexperienced CSGO players may not recognize these players, but some of them have a lot of experience in the pro scene. Hence, they were among the favorites to win the tournament.
EG.White’s journey started in Group D, where the team had to go up against Detonate, Vendetta, and Electrify Steel. it wasn’t as easy as they thought, but EG.White finished first in the Group, which gave the team a slot for the Quarterfinals.
After missing out on the opportunity to play against Evil Geniuses Black, the second organization faced Iron Blood Gaming. Following the dominance at Overpass, the team had no problems on Nuke as well and continued to the Semifinals.
The next challenge ahead of EG.White was Team oNe. Similar to the previous series, Jonji and co. had no issues and won on Dust 2 and Nuke. This granted the team a chance to compete in the final.
The Grand Final
The final between EG.White and BIG Academy took place this Sunday, and it allowed us to watch a three-game series. Although EG had a solid start on Nuke, the team crumbled on Vertigo as their opponents ripped through them. The painful 16-6 loss definitely had a positive effect on BIG Academy, but it was not enough for them to win the match.
The third map was Mirage, and EG was the better team. After winning the CT side, the team won important roles as Ts, giving them the trophy. The German squad did its best, but even this was not enough to bring down the NA powerhouse.
Now that Fragadelphia 17 is over, the teams will have to prepare for the upcoming event. Be sure to learn more about the latest CSGO betting sites if you want to stay up to date with everything new.
