by Ben Hill

ESL One Birmingham hosts 12 Dota 2 players in the UK in 2020 for the third consecutive year. The tournament runs from 29 May to 31 May with teams competing for a prize pool of $300,000. On May 27, however, the tournament will start with the group stages, which are not a live show.

The participating teams will compete in four national qualification competitions for Europe, North America, China and South-East Asia. For their countries, the top eight teams are also selected to participate in the event as planned. The information was announced on the Twitter page of the ESL Dota 2 which gives fans a sense of excitement.

Birmingham’s return comes with its fair share of high expectations, as reported the year before. The 2019 Birmingham game was the best spectator of all ESL One Dota 2 tournaments to date with 24,000 live attendees and a total of more than 306,000 online spectators. Despite the fact that ESL UK CEO James Dean has a high bar to surpass, the event is still more exciting in 2020.

We are very proud of the significance for the Dota 2 culture at ESL One Birmingham. Birmingham is a truly unique venue and the environment with the help of teams, sponsors and supporters, which will definitely supply you once again with unforgettable moments this year. We are extremely thankful to everyone involved and want to share our thanks not only by delivering an international finale at the highest level of production but also by adding even more hype, enhancements and catchy songs to the Birmingham Arena.

With regard to ESL Academy, there will be group competitions of four of the top European and North American amateur teams. The reward is the chance to achieve a place in the main stage grand finals. The award pool will be $240,000 for the ESL Academy.

Tickets for the event will be eligible from 23 January to attend this event directly. More information on the events and ticket prices is available on the ESL One website.
