Blizzard F@#!ed Up

by devaccess

Over the weekend, a Hearthstone player made headlines for protesting the Chinese government during a livestream.

At the time, Blizzard pulled the footage. But now? The player has been banned, his prize money has been taken away and Blizzard has also cut ties with the casters, who just happened to be on stream.

After this video was produced, Riot Games made an official statement clarifying how they're addressing the Hong Kong Attitude on stream. That statement can be found here:

To take the prize money away should be enough for EVERYONE to treat the company as a fraudulent company and simply stay away !

For people who still think those people protesting in HK are doing the right thing. Now there is a police officer who's throat was cut by one of the people in black. And the HK Police have found Mobile controlled IED by the road side. Yes I mean IED used by terrorists and killed hundreds of if not thousands of innocent people. Go on, use your tiny mind and think if that's the right thing to do. Morons. By the way, check out what happened in front of the White House. I think some people were protesting for the peace and the environment. And how many people were arrested? What a joke Americans. What a joke.

Remember when they ban the ? symbol, we laughed about that then but it was a sign of the slippery slope Blizzard was willing do to censor free speech.

As a professional E Sports player during a tournament, it should be banned to promote politics period. People are not tuned in to watch you talk about politics, they are here to watch a E Sports tournament. Sporting brands which involve themselves in politics almost ALWAYS backfire, your company sells merchandise not promote politics.

For those who are arguing that this is censorship, you'd best take a step back and think about how unfair and stupid this actually is.
Majority of people are like sheep, they simply jump on hype trains and support their idol/star without much thought, the more popular a brand or player is and the more games and tournaments he wins, the more coverage he gets. If he is then allowed to start supporting a certain political movement and PROMOTE IT to ALL THE VIEWERS then this isn't fair on the opposition's side as they may not have a representative who is as popular or skilled as the aforementioned player. This leads to a very skewed playing field and completely stupid, ALL political discussions should happen on a channel specifically designed for it so that both sides can fairly discuss the issue and viewers can choose a side with less prejudice.

P.S I was going to support Hong Kong until they blocked the airports and made it a nightmare for all the travelers. If you want people to support you, why are you annoying and picking a fight with them by blocking their passage at the airport???? Are people honestly this fking stupid?

To be honest it's kind of stupid to spread that message on a game focussed broadcast so it's not really suprising what happend….

I mean if that was allowed then the KKK should be allowed to pop on and scream their views.

Blizzard did what any boss would do if an employee talks bad or makes the company look bad would do.

The esport player injected his personal political views during a live event and he deserves his ban.

Even though i dont agree on what they did to blitzchung it was still understandable because he did break a rule, but firing the casters who did nothing is overkill.

TBH I don't think Blizzard is afraid of China instead i think they just want to stay out of political issues like this as it does nkt bring them much benefit if Blizzard were to support Hong Kong they would loss a huge player base in China if Blizzard were to support China they would lost the player base on the other side all and all a bad thing for them so might as well stay out of it. This is my personal opinion from a neutral perspective might be wrong don't flame me stay your thoughts.
