Without FaZe Clan, winner of the BLAST Pro Series Miami, Astralis again features as a title favorite. Winners of the IW Katowice 2019, the Danes also reigned supreme in BLAST Pro Series São Paulo. Na’vi is also on the radar as they are StarSeries & i-League S7 champions. The Ukrainians rely on the strength of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, the current best player in the world to shine for them in the Spanish capital.
The format
Madrid will follow the traditional rules of the circuit: All teams will compete against each other in the best one matches during the group stage. In the end, the top two in the table compete in the grand final in a best of three series. Although the game maps have not yet been defined, the tournament will be played on Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Train, Overpass and Vertigo. Vertigo debuted on the circuit after returning to the competition at the end of May, with the update that took Cache out of the competitive landscape.
The third-placed will choose from the fourth, fifth or sixth-placed team to face in the BLAST Pro Standoff. The Standoff will be played on an exclusive map: the BLAST Standoff Aim Map. In it, the teams will play in five 1v1 duels with pre-defined weapons: M4A4 / M4A1-S, Desert Eagle, AK47, CZ75 and AWP. The team that gets the highest number of kills, will get a bonus of US $ 20 thousand.
