The best midlaners of MSI 2019 – esportsjunkie

by Shehryar Raza

The main event of the MSI is fast approaching and all eyes will be on the mid lane. Since 3 exceptional League of Legends players, Faker, Rookie and Caps will be in action.

Faker

Faker and Rookie are two exceptional players who are constantly being compared. 2018 was an amazing year for the Chinese, SK Telecom T1 failed to qualify for the Worlds, and while Rookie and Caps competed in a one-way final (3-0 for Invictus Gaming), Faker had no option but to watch the action from his home. Faker said that at the end of 2018, that if China had managed to win all the international trophies during the year, then it was only inevitable that Korea would win them all the following year. He also said that since Rookie won the World Championships in 2018, the community could say he’s his rival. Yet, Faker  very confident in his abilities and the Korean thinks that he has advantage in a 1v1 duel against Rookie.

Rookie

Rookie is happy to be compared to Faker but knows he could not match track record and has not won a World Championship since his first year at a competitive level. This Korean player who went to China did not have a glorious debut and had to work very hard to reach an almost innate level to Faker. However, Rookie is now excited to finally face Faker in a major event, an event that could really bring out the best mid-laner on the planet. Faker is the hurdle Rookie has to go through to move from challenger status to a world class mid-laner status. We will have to wait and see if Rookie can prevail when confronts the god of the mid lane.

Caps

Where does Caps fit in this equation? After a disappointing final in 2018 (but a final all the same), the mid-lane European prodigy has a second chance to prove that he can cope with big shots from other regions. According to Rookie himself, Caps did not perform well during the Worlds final and only Faker seemed to be able to meet his expectations. But now Caps is coming back stronger than ever. Not only did he win the Spring Split MVP title, but he also has a new team around him, the G2 roster, which can be considered the best team Europe has ever known. Neither Faker nor Rookie are waiting for Caps and this is the perfect opportunity for him to shine and show that his capable of competing against the best. We hope that Baby Faker will take off and make Europe proud.

The Rookie Vs Faker duel will be the headline of this tournament but no doubt that Caps will do everything to shine and challenge the giants of the mid lane.It is perhaps the most competitive and incredible MSI that will be played before our eyes, and the mid lane will be the center of our attention. So from Faker, Rookie and Caps who will dominate the competition?
