This encounter already took place in the group stage of IEM Chengdu, where the Martin “stavn” Lund and Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz duo from Astralis destroyed FaZe by securing a clean 2-0 victory. Defeating the PGL Major Copenhagen runner-ups in such a fashion speaks volumes for the Danes, and doing it twice will cement their name at this event.

With dev1ce as their new in-game leader, Astralis have shown significant signs of improvement in their performance so far at IEM Chengdu. The Danes breezed past Group B, defeating big names like Virtus.Pro and FaZe clan, and having a 3-0 win streak that landed them in the semifinals.
These victories are a result of a completely different Astralis, where dev1ce and stavn have dominated in every series. On top of it, their wins were very convincing, especially the 2-0 victory against FaZe, where Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s squad couldn’t even get double digits. Overall, this is the best we have seen Astralis play so far in 2024, and they can bring another upset.
FaZe
FaZe are the favorites to win it all at this event, considering their incredible form so far, not only throughout this year but also since the arrival of CS2. Coming from a runner-up finish at the recent Major, they were expected to have an easy journey in Group B. However, they were stopped by the Danes, facing a heartbreaking 2-0 loss that landed FaZe in the lower bracket.
FaZe secured the playoffs after moving past Cloud9 and FlyQuest. The quarterfinal series was a tough one for karrigan and his team, where the series reached the third map. After a 2-1 victory, FaZe will try to continue their streak by winning this revenge matchup.
