The 2022 LLA Summer Split is a close fight between 7 teams

by eSportsJunkie Staff

In almost every single split of the Latin American League, we only see 2 or 3 teams as strong contenders for the title, while the rest just fight for a chance at getting a spot in the playoffs. Usually, by the 2nd or 3rd week, we already know which teams will be playing in the grand finals, or at least, we have a clear idea on which teams will be in the top 4. Yes, there might be a few exceptions here and there, but overall, the LLA was never a close competition, until now.

Let’s get it out of the way, Globant Emerald is the only team that is far from being considered a competitor in the league. With 8 losses and not a single win, the Emeralds have proven to be the biggest disappointment in the history of the LLA. With a total of 6 titles combined throughout 5 players, this roster has failed to meet the expectations everyone had. WhiteLotus and Newbie once were known as their best in their position, but right now, they are looking like the worst bot lane in the league by quite a lot.

Now, back on what matters the most. Estral, Isurus, All Knights, Rainbow7 Infinity, Xten, Aze and Aze, all are looking like solid contenders for a strong finish this split. Yeah, maybe Estral and Isurus look just a bit better than the rest of the competition, but these last couple of weeks are proof that just like the rest of the teams, they have their own weaknesses. Estral lost both of their Week 3 matches against Isurus and Rainbow7, while Isurus lost their last encounter versus XTEN.

Right now, the spring split champions Aze are looking like the 2nd worst team in the league, but we can’t forget the run they pulled-off last split. If we take a look at how their spring split went, by week 4, they were on a 4-4 record, and now in the summer split, they are 3-5, which is a difference of just 1 game. They are clearly having issues when it comes to synergy, especially in the bot lane as Straight is presenting health issues and Shu Hari is currently standing in for him.

Rainbow7 is a team that is starting to ramp up as they didn’t have the best first couple of weeks this split. With a name like Ophelia in their lineup, it was impressive to see them in such a weak form. While they are far from reaching their final form, R7 has started to pick up very important wins and they are currently sitting on a 4-4 record, tied with All Knights and Infinity.

All of these teams are in such a close race and considering that 6 teams make it into the playoffs, seeing any of them miss out is going to be disheartening. Right now is such a good time to pick up on the Latin American League and start watching the upcoming games as the summer split could go any team’s way.
