John Fazio, CEO of Nerd Street Gamers discussed the move in a release: “Our mission for the National Championship Series is to give players an in-person competitive opportunity to develop and showcase their skills. Player Omega gives us a chance to expand our reach across parts of the country that are too often overlooked. We want Nerd Street Gamers and the National Championship Series community to help connect gamers all over the United States.”
The announcement comes just days after Nerd Street Gamers revealed fruit-flavoured sweet brand Mike and Ike as a partner for the NCS for 2020. Taking place across 10 cities in North America, amateur players will get the opportunity to compete for up to $30,000 (£23,085.30) in prize money.

Jon Bukosky, CEO of Player Omega added: “Nerd Street Gamers has always put players first so they were a must to join us for our first event and to be a tour partner in 2020. We want to reach every skill level at Player Omega, and NCS hosting CS:GO and Apex Legends tournaments is a significant offering for competitive players.”
Player Omega will also partner with Nerd Street Gamers for its 10-stop tour in 2020, which will see NCS events take place at each stop. More details surrounding the 2020 season are set to be revealed at a later date.
Esports Insider says: It’s been a busy October for Nerd Street Gamers, securing $12M in investment and unveiling new partners ahead of a stacked 2020. Seeing it join forces with Player Omega is an interesting move but one that makes sense considering the goals of both companies.
