The Dota 2 Americans regions have been going through some serious problems lately.
Around 1 year ago, South America was one of the most promising Dota 2 regions in the world. Teams like EG decided to go there and focus on improving local players and qualifying for big tournaments. While it’s true that the best South American Dota 2 teams qualified for the big events, neither won anything. This is probably one of the reasons why this region is in a lot of problems right now.
When talking about the Dota 2 Americas regions, we also need to share a few words about North America. To be honest, this region has been on the decline for several years now. As we’ve seen from the Dota 2 roster changes, a lot of teams here made moves in an attempt to improve their results, but this never happened. Sadly, TSM’s decision to move away from North America seems to be the last nail in the coffin.
Dota 2 Americas Regions – North America
North America has not been the same ever since Evil Genius decided to drop its roster. Shopify Rebellion picked up the latter, but the squad’s bad results meant in another roster drop. Consequently, the region was left with only one stable team – TSM.
TSM was the only team from North America that managed to reach a final of Valve event in the last 3 years. The team had the chance to go play at the ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, where it lost. Despite qualifying for most big tournaments and the fact it secured 2nd place at BetBoom Dacha 2023, TSM decided to drop its roster and leave the Dota 2 scene.
There are many reasons why TSM left the Dota 2 scene, one of which is the use of organizational changes. Sadly, TSM is also leaving Rainbow Six Siege, as well as League of Legends.
The good news is that TSM’s ex-Dota 2 roster will continue to play together under the Team Undying banner. In case you don’t remember, this was the name of the team before it was acquired by the organization a few years ago. It will definitely be way harder for the players to organize themselves when there is no sponsor, but they are probably optimistic about their future.
There are many reasons that resulted in TSM’s decision to exit the Dota 2 scene. One of them is the financial situation because the club couldn’t accumulate enough earnings. In case you have forgotten, TSM failed to shine at The International 12, which resulted in a really low payout. The tournament’s prize was low to begin with, and the fact that TSM exited early on did not help it either.
The future of TSM
Today we announce our departure from NA DOTA.
We can’t thank our team enough for their time with us. They have evolved as players all throughout the year, and we’re certain they will find continued success in their careers.

Sadly, the drastic decision from a couple of days ago to leave some of the biggest eSports means that the organization may disappear. This will be a huge blow for the North American eSports scene because TSM is one of the oldest and most respected names there.
Besides the poor results, another thing that fans need to remember is that TSM was involved with FTX. We all know what happened with the latter, so it’s no surprise that the organization has had a lot of financial problems lately.
South America
The trial period has concluded and starting today, they are no longer part of BOOM Esports.
We would like to express our gratitude for their dedication and efforts during the period.
Stay tuned for further updates regarding our Dota 2 team.

When it comes down to the Dota 2 Americas regions and their problems, South America is also not in a good position. We are yet to see whether TSM will follow EG’s footsteps and decide to enter there, but what’s important to know is that BOOM Esports dropped its South American Dota 2 roster.
To be honest, BOOM only released 80% of the roster, but what surprised everyone is that this happened less than one month after the announcement. The only tournament that the the new Dota 2 roster had the chance to play in was ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 and BOOM Esports were unable to win the qualifiers.
According to the statement on Twitter, BOOM Esports considered this to be a “Trial” period. What’s interesting is that Pkazs remains the only member of the old roster that continues to be a part of the organization. Therefore, there is a good chance BOOM will try to rebuild its roster around him.
Conclusion
When taking a look at the Dota 2 Americas regions, one thing is certain – things are not looking good. The lack of sponsorship, big organization, and successful Dota 2 teams means that these regions are in a lot of trouble. We are yet to see what’s going to happen in the future.
