Mediapro’s Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP) has announced a partnership with Ubisoft to bring Rainbow Six Siege competitions to Mexico into early 2020.
The companies will collaborate on a new Mexico Challengers league for the tactical team-based shooter, with pro and amateur teams competing in online qualifiers during October via LVP’s ArenaGG platform. On Nov. 2, Mexico Challengers will begin group stage play, with four qualifying teams facing off against the eight teams that competed in last year’s Rainbow Six Siege Mexican Championship, as well as the teams that won previous online qualifiers.
Ultimately, eight of those teams will compete in the playoffs in January 2020, with two squads chosen to compete in a Latam Masters competition against teams from other Spanish-speaking Latin American countries. Ubisoft and LVP will also host a live competition in February.
“We’re really excited about working with Rainbow Six under this new alliance with LVP,” said Álvaro Irurita, head of esports for Ubisoft in Mexico, in a release. “We’ll be working together in Mexico for the remainder of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, but we hope to continue expanding the alliance to the rest of Spanish-speaking countries to provide the professional and amateur gaming community, as well as fans of esports in Latin America, with the very best experience.”
