Fortnite returns to the top of the charts as League of Legends esports take a break and World Cup qualifiers stimulate Fortnite influencer viewership totals.

The following titles are ranked according to the total number of hours watched on Twitch , from Monday to the following Sunday, with data compiled using TEO Analytics.

Fortnite has spent most of 2019 duking it out with other games like Apex Legends and Grand Theft Auto V for influencer-driven viewership on Twitch, but with League of Legends’

top esports leagues taking a break following the Spring Split playoffs, 2018’s most-watched game has made a return to the top.

In February, Fortnite was under siege as broadcasters flocked to the newer battle royale title Apex Legends, and after the more cartoonish shooter regained its foothold, GTA role play streams began to pique the interest of viewers.

With constant updates to in-game cosmetics and gameplay, as well as the start of World Cup qualifications, Fortnite has been able to reclaim a spot at the top of Twitch for the first time since January.

Something to Watch For

Despite the Overwatch League

broadcast experiencing technical difficulties on Thursday night, Overwatch had its strongest week of the month so far including increased viewership for the official OWL channel.

While some OWL fans had trouble tuning into live action during the first day of matches for the week, the league rebounded strongly to produce 3.6M hours watched for the week, up slightly from the rough start it had the first two weeks of stage two. During the first weeks of April, the main OWL channel had a total of 3.2M hours watched each week.

That, along with an increase in Overwatch viewership for Daniel “dafran” Francesca, who recently retired from OWL mid-season, helped the title make a slight improvement from 5.7M hours watched the past couple of weeks.

Where Did You Go?

As fans flock back to Fortnite it’s easy to forget about the success that Apex Legends had earlier in the year, but with another week passing, the title has seen a drop in viewership yet again.

In February, the new battle royale produced more than 30M hours watched during each of its first two full weeks on Twitch. The last game to produce that much for just one week alone was Dota 2 during the week of The International.

While the game’s decline in viewership hasn’t been as rapid as that of Call of Duty when it came out with its own battle royale mode, the decline has been steady and consistent. Though the game was in the top 10 this week, it ranked 10th and was only 600K hours watched ahead of World of Warcraft . Blizzard Entertainment’s

massively multiplayer online game could make up that difference this week with a new high difficulty raid being released.
