Free Fire World Series Breaks Audience Record, Peaks Over 5M Simultaneous Viewers – ARCHIVE – The Esports Observer

The Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2021, organized by Garena in Singapore, peaked at 5.4M concurrent viewers worldwide during the first round of its finals on May 30, breaking the all-time record of peak viewers for an esports event (excluding Chinese platforms). Data from Esports Charts also show that the Average Minutes Audience (AMA) rested above the 2M mark during the 9 hours it was aired.

With a worldwide broadcast in 12 different languages on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, TikTok, the Russian VK, and the Garena-owned BOOYAH!, the FFWS broke the previous record of 3.9M peak viewers (excluding Chinese platforms) that belonged to the 2019 League of Legends World Championship .

The competition was aired on May 28 and 30, and featured 18 teams from 11 different regions competing for a $2M USD prize pool. The winning team, Phoenix Force, from Thailand, won the $500K main prize, while the Brazilian LOUD and the Russian Silence took home $250K and $100K, respectively, for the second and third places.
