Summer Games Done Quick leads all channels on Twitch despite just more than one week’s worth of streamings during the month of June.
Meanwhile, personality streamers have begun to experience a bit of a summer slump as some take time off to attend events like the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
The following channels are ranked according to the total number of hours watched on Twitch from June 1-30, with data compiled using TEO Access.
Year-Over-Year
Top channels like Games Done Quick, Riot Games , and the Overwatch League saw increases in total hours watched this year while influencers experienced a notable dip. Tyler “Ninja” Blevins carried viewership on Twitch in 2018, but even the likes of Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, who was second to Blevins, pulled more viewership in 2018 than the most-watched influencer this year.
Top esports events saw boosted viewership this year with the EPICENTER Major for Dota 2 also producing strong viewership statistics that spanned English and Russian-language channels that racked up a combined 14.5M hours watched in June.
Top Channels: Games Done Quick
The Summer Games Done Quick speedrunning marathon for charity is known for being one of two GDQ events a year that regularly combine to produce one of the most-watched channels on Twitch.
Even though GDQ has relatively small amount of airtime during the year, its 236 hours of airtime this month put it up there in the same realm as channels like Riot Games and the Dota 2 Russian-language hub in terms of volume of broadcasting.
That combined with the channels’ average concurrent viewership of 104K from June 22-30 helped GDQ make its presence known and assist the charity marathon in raising a Summer GDQ record of more than $3M USD for charity, up from 2018’s record of $2.17M.
What’s Trending: Personal Problems?
Personality streamers saw a dip in viewership in June. While numerous streamers have taken breaks from their channels for various reasons including a large absence by some Fortnite streamers for one week during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, the beginning of summer hasn’t been good for influencers on Twitch.
Even though Blevins’ absence for part of the month could explain some of his decline in viewership, his average CCV was also down in June, and the same was the case for Twitch’s most-watched influencer in Turner “Tfue” Tenney.
Additionally, the drop in viewership affected non-Fortnite influencers as well. Last month, four different streamers had more than 6M hours watched. This month only Tenney produced more than that, and only two other streamers even managed to eclipse 5M hours watched.
