Sports Emmy Awards to recognise esports in new category

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences unveiled a new category that will see esports recognised at this year’s Sports Emmy Awards.

The Outstanding Esports Coverage category will seek to recognise excellence in the “delivery of coverage and presentation of competitive, organized video gaming to the viewer” during tournament finals.

Astralis Group to operate Juventus’ esports efforts

Italian football club Juventus entered an agreement with Astralis Group that sees the Danish parent company operate its esports initiatives.

Juventus was announced as one of four additions to the eFootball League ahead of its second season.

PUBG Corp. unveils esports plans for 2020

PUBG Corp. finally announced its plans for the 2020 season of its official esports initiative.

The developer plans to host four global events – under the banner of the PUBG Global Series – which are all said to be of a similar scale and “prestige” as this year’s PUBG Global Championship. The events will be hosted in April, July, October, and November, with the first event taking place in Berlin.

G2 Esports receives $10 million investment from Joseph Tsai

Berlin-based organisation G2 Esports received investment from Joseph Tsai, Owner of Brooklyn Nets and Co-founder of Alibaba Group.

The Canadian billionaire reportedly made a $10 million (£7.6 million) investment in the organisation. The capital will be used to build an office in New York City early next year.

ReKTGlobal welcomes investment from Taylor Fritz

ReKTGlobal, the parent company of Rogue and London Royal Ravens, received investment from tennis player Taylor Fritz.

The amount that the 22-year-old American athlete has invested in the company has not been disclosed at the time of writing.
