The Story of Matchfixing in Esports

by devaccess

At the very start of every competition, before the lights and the fandom, there is something truly beautiful.

A group of people united in passion. Pushing the game they love to its limits, in the hopes that one day, their dreams will be realized.

It’s a path esports fans are all to familiar with. But in the pursuit of every great competition. There is a darker side to the journey.

This is the story of matches thrown and careers lost. The story of what happens when the dark underbelly of professional competition rears its ugly head.

A story of kids who messed up and paid the ultimate price.

This is the story of match fixing in esports.

i feel if you matchfix you should be perma banned. it can not only Ruin the hole integrity of the game chasing away sponsors and investors but its also scummy and you deserve whats coming.

The mic clipping volume game commentary at 22:30 is a little unnecessary. It’s way louder than the rest of the video

that Dig vs Curse game was so undeserved. No one actually cares about these bum-ass tourneys just let them have fun.

bans are there to make sure games are clean. asking bans to be lifted will allow players to do more match fixing if they know they will be unbanned in the future

Matchfixing is a serious crime, Valve did the right thing to ban them for life. Fuck those who thought they would redeem yourself; you lost that trust already.

As much as we want to keep the competitive integrity of any game in general there’s always the stereotype that “The poor wants to be Rich an d the rich wants to be richer”. And even though the newer generations hoping into Esports might be there for the stardom, fans, or even just to live out their dreams, There’s gonna be the one guy willing to do anything for some extra $$$

Even if you were throwing, it never occurred to them to disguise it in anyway? Instead of leaving themselves to be completely swept making it obvious some matchfixing was at play?
