The New Top Carries in 7.32d

by Zlosterr

With a new patch comes a new meta, we take a look at the top carries in 7.32d.

Dota 2’s newest patch became available just a few days ago, but it already has a big impact on the meta. To be fair, most players did not expect this to happen because Valve decided to buff and nerf a couple of heroes. Most of us expected a big patch that would change the game from the ground up, but it seems like we will have to wait for 2023 to see it.

As mentioned, the Dota 2 patch 7.32d greatly affected certain heroes. For example, Leshrtac became substantially weaker, whereas Razor is topping the charts for the best Dota 2 hero right now.

While it is true that many people play Razor as a carry, the hero can also be played as a mid-laner, as well as an offlaner. Hence, we won’t include him in the list with the top carries. However, there are many other interesting names you should be aware of, so let’s dive in.

Wraith King

If we put aside Alchemist and Razor, Wraith King is the most successful Dota 2 carry right now, at least according to the stats. This is good news for a lot of players because this hero has been a popular pick through 2021 and 2022. Some people, such as Nikobaby relied on him during the DPC.

Even though WK did not receive as many buffs as other heroes, the small changes seemed enough to make him the go-to option. Following 7.32d, Wraithfire Blast now has a 1200 projectile speed instead of 1000, meaning that this ability will be harder to dodge.

That said, the thing that makes the hero feel much stronger is the buff to his Vampiric Spirit. The skeletons that he releases will get an extra 25 attack speed and movement speed when they attack a target whose under the effect of Wraithfire Blast. In other words, this carry can do way more damage and kill targets with little to no effort.

We have to remind you that Wraith King is one of the few STR heroes in the game that can work in many scenarios. He can be an excellent late-game monster because of the free Aegis, but people can also use him in the mid-game. We expect to see him more often in the upcoming DPC.

Chaos Knight

While we are on the topic of STR carries, we need to address the most popular one in 2022 – Chaos Knight. Albeit not the fastest farmer in Dota 2, this hero can be a beast when used in conjunction with some support. What’s more, CK has always been one of the best late-game monsters, especially if he has no counters. He has tons of HP, and his Stun/Crit allows him to nuke targets in no time.

Even though CK was a pretty popular pick in the last couple of months, the Dota 2 patch 7.32d did not nerf him. On the contrary, he received 2 small buffs, and it seems they were enough to positively affect his win rate. After the changes, CK’s Chaos Strike has a minimum crit rate of 125% instead of 120%, whereas his level 20 talent increases the min/max stun duration of Chaos Bolt to 0.75s.

As mentioned, these changes are minor, but it seems like they work because CK is getting stronger and stronger. It will be interesting to see if he has what it takes to become the meta carry, but considering that he can be countered by a lot of heroes and does not farm as fast as others, it is unlikely to happen.

Medusa

To be fair, Medusa became more of a mid-laner than a carry, especially if we take a look at some of the professional Dota 2 teams. Nevertheless, she has always been one of the best late-game monsters, so we’ve decided to put her on the list.

Medusa is a hero that has a slow start, but once she gets the lead, she becomes almost impossible to kill. Even though she might not do as much damage as other carries, her survivability makes her incredibly strong. She can outlive anyone in a fight and do a lot of damage while doing it, which is why teams often rely on her to carry the game.

Medusa received two small buffs in 7.32d, and both affected her Mystic Snake. The latter is her main ability, which explains why the hero became more popular. The changes added 50 extra casting range to the ability and allowed the snake to have a 15% increased projectile speed after each bounce. Besides doing the damage faster, enemies will have a lot of problems dodging the ability.

Despite the buffs, Medusa will have the same problems as in any other patch – the counters. The hero is powerful but carries like Sniper and Anti-Mage can have a negative effect on her win rate.

Monkey King

The last hero that deserves a slot on the list is none other than Money King. Some pro players and PUB stars use him as roaming support, but Team Secret and Team Spirit have proven that he can be an excellent carry. That said. 7.32d brought 2 small buffs to MK, meaning that we will be seeing him even more in the future.

The new Dota 2 update gave Wikong’s Command extra armor in the first 2 levels. So, instead of providing 12/18/24, the ability gives 14/19/24. As for the cast point, it is down from 1.2s to 1.0s. The latter is a very important buff that will allow the hero to cast it fast, meaning he could do more damage.

Money King is an amazing hero that can make a huge difference for his team. Needless to say, he is one of the best heroes you can get when you want to stomp enemies. No wonder some professional teams always ban him.
