2022 is almost over, which is sad because it was a fantastic year for CSGO. That said, 2023 looks to be even more interesting, so we can’t wait to see the best CSGO teams in action.
Speaking of the devil, 2022 allowed us to watch a lot of top events where we saw some really surprising results. Many teams exceeded expectations, whereas others failed to stand out. That said, it is time to look at some of the best in the world and see why they deserve to be on the list.
Outsiders
The first name on the list may come as a surprise to those who haven’t followed the professional CSGO in 2022. That said, Outsiders deserve to be among the best CSGO teams in 2022 because the team won IEM Rio. Needless to say, this was one of the year’s biggest events that included a massive $1,250,000 USD prize pool.
Despite the fact that Outsiders was a part of the contenders that secured its slot from the European RMR B, the team slowly but steadily rose to the top. After finishing third in the Challenger Stage and 4th in the Legends Stage, the team advanced to the Champions Stage. Its first challenge was against Fnatic, and despite being the underdogs, Qikert and the rest won.
Up next, Outsiders had to fight MOUZ, a team that had already defeated them once earlier. Despite losing on Overpass, Outsiders won on Ancient and ripped through their opponents on Inferno, securing a place in the final.
Speaking of the devil, the last match for the team was against heroic, another big name in 2022. Despite being the underdogs, Outsiders won on Mirage and annihilated their opponents on Overpass, which allowed them to win one of the biggest CSGO events in 2022. Unsurprisingly, Qikert and the rest deserve to be one of the best CSGO teams of the year.
Heroic
Speaking of IEM Rio and the grand final, Heroic is also among the best CSGO teams in the world, at least in 2022. The Norwegian Esports organization has been around for some time now and has always been among the top-tier names in Europe. In fact, this is one of the reasons why people often call Heroic one of the best CSGO teams of all time.
If we take a look at cadiaN and his team’s performance throughout 2022, we will find some pretty impressive results. For starters, the team finished 3rd-4th in the IEM Katowice in February. Two months later, Heroic won the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, followed by the Pinnacle Cup Championship.
In November, Heroic finished 2nd in RIO, and just a few weeks later, the team won the BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022. This was their biggest victory of the year, and it granted them $200,000 USD.
Heroic will definitely be one of the most interesting teams to look at in 2023. Who knows, it might prove itself as the best in the world.
FaZe Clan
Even though FaZe Clan might not be the best when it comes down to the current CSGO team ranking, there is no arguing that the team achieved impressive results in 2022. Consequently, we’ve decided to include it on the list.
Before pointing out some of the things FaZe achieved in 2022, we have to mention the team’s poor performance at IEM Rio. Even though it was one of the hidden favorites, karrigan and the rest lost all of their matches and finished last in the legends stage.
The good news s that the team achieved a lot of things in 2022 and proved yet again that it is one of the best. It all started in February when the organization won the Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Katowice. This impressive victory got the players $400,000 USD, which is a lot of money.
Following this event, FaZe won the ESL Pro League Season 15 and finished first in the PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The latter was definitely the most impressive victory in 2022 because the Grand Finals against Na’Vi was epic.
Speaking of finals and Na’Vi, the two met again two months later during the Intel Extreme Masters XVII – Cologne. Even though it wasn’t easy, FaZe defeated Na’Vi and got another check for $400,000 USD. We can’t wait to see whether the team will live up to the expectations in 2023.
Natus Vincere
Even though many other teams deserve to be among the best CSGO teams in 2022, we think that the last place has to go to Natus Vincere. The living legend s1mple and his team didn’t win that many events, but Na’Vi was consistent in its results throughout the year. Perhaps the most disappointing result was the loss against FURIA Esports at IEM Rio’s quarterfinals.
That said, Natus Vincere’s biggest win in 202 was in the BLAST PRemier” Spring Finals 2022 when it defeated Team Vitality. Aside from that, Na’Vi reached the finals of the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, as well as the IEM Cologne. However, the Ukrainian powerhouse lost both matches against FaZe Clan.
To be fair, most people probably expected more from s1mple and the rest, especially following the organization’s results in 2021. As you probably remember, Na’Vi won tons of events back then, including the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and the Blast Premier: Global Finals. However, it seems like Na’Vis opponents have stepped up their game, so it will be fun to see whether the team will live up to the expectations in 2023.
