The 4 teams representing Western Europe in Dota 2 ESL One Stockholm Major

by eSportsJunkie Staff

OG

  • Artem “Yuragi” Golubiev
  • Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov
  • Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf
  • Tommy “Taiga” Le
  • Mikhail “Misha” Agatov

OG will represent Western Europe as the strongest team in the region. They finished in 1st place with a 6-1 score and a +9 map differential, which was the most dominating performance by far. The only series they dropped was against Team Secret, in which they were able to at least secure 1 map. All the European fans will feel safe in OG’s hands as they are the best representative Europe could’ve asked for. It’s safe to say that they are one of the strongest contenders for the Major title. The two-time TI winners will try to cement their legacy as a new squad by winning their first major after a few years.

Gaimin Gladiators

  • Anton “dyrachyo” Shkredov
  • Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan
  • Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard
  • Erik “tOfu” Engel
  • Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp

This is the roster formerly known as Team Tickles back in the first tour of the DPC season. They were signed by Gaimin Gladiators after a 2nd place finish in Tour 1 and a strong performance in the Dota 2 Champions League Season 6. Just like OG, Gaimin Gladiators finished with a 6-1 score but placed 2nd because their map differential wasn’t as high as OG’s. The Gladiators have one of the youngest carrys in the league, dyrachYO, who has been able to show that he can be a huge threat to the competition despite his young age.

Team Liquid

  • Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen
  • Michael “miCKe” Vu
  • Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg
  • Samuel “Boxi” Svahn
  • Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi

Team Liquid is already a well-established team in the European Dota 2 scene. They are the TI7 champions and have managed to stay relevant throughout the history of competitive Dota 2. One of their most recent additions is MATUMBAMAN, one of the players that raised the aegis back in 2017 but left the team in early 2019. Now he is looking to take the crown once again with Team Liquid, and it’s safe to say that they have a huge chance at taking the title home if things go well for them.

Tundra Esports

  • Oliver “skiter” Lepko
  • Leon “Nine” Kirilin
  • Neta “33” Shapira
  • Martin “Saksa” Sazdov
  • Wu “Sneyking” Jingjun

Tundra Esports is one of the newer faces in the scene, as they joined the competition in 2021. They entered the scene with the acquisition of former mudgolems’ roster. The team was already turning a lot of heads as they managed to place 3rd at ESL One Germany 2020, a tournament that featured Europe’s strongest teams. The team is captained by Sneyking, one of the veterans coming from the North American scene. He’s had multiple TI appearances and will try to lead his team to international success in the upcoming major.

Overall, it’s safe to say that Western Europe comes as one of the strongest regions into the first Dota 2 Major of the year. It’ll be interesting to see how the Western Europe teams fare against Team Spirit, the last year’s The International champions.
