Fortnite’s Icon Series adds world-renowned professional Tennis player Naomi Osaka.
The Icon Series in Fortnite Battle Royale features real-life celebrities and content creators as characters. Since its inception, we’ve seen the likes of Marshmello, LeBron James, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott and Bruno Mars become in-game cosmetic outfits. Those are just a few of the many recognizable names in the Icon Series.
Today, Epic Games announced Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka as the newest Icon Series member. Osaka is a former world number one competitor with four Grand Slam titles and numerous tournament wins. Her Fortnite character arrives March 3, and ESTNN has everything you need to know.

An unexpected collaboration—Epic Games revealed that Naomi Osaka would enter the Icon Series. She follows in the footsteps of fellow athletes LeBron James, Marco Reus, Harry Kane and Neymar Jr who are also Icon Series members. Osaka is the Series’ first female athlete and Tennis player. The 24-year-old sports two different styles in-game with a slew of other cosmetics for fans to consider.
Osaka commented on her love for Fortnite and desire to join LeBron James in the Icon Series:
“I’ve been playing Fortnite for a long time – when I saw LeBron had joined the Icon Series, it made me want to join the Fortnite family too. It’s really amazing to be able to connect with so many people around the world”
Epic Games’ Global VP of Partnership Nate Nanzer also commented on the collaboration:
“The ‘Icon Series’ is the ultimate celebration of the most dynamic figures in culture for Fortnite’s audience of millions, and there’s no-one more perfect than Naomi Osaka to join the Series as the first female athlete. Just as Fortnite is more than a game, Naomi is so much more than an athlete.”
According to Epic Games, Naomi’s sister Mari helped her design the outfits based on her heritage–hence the two unique styles.

Naomi Osaka Cup
Epic Games celebrates the Naomi Osaka collaboration with a Solos tournament on March 2. Those who finish atop the leaderboard in each region can win the new Icon Series Set for free. Naomi Osaka’s Icon Series Set will be available in Fortnite’s Item Shop on March 3 at 7 PM EST. Once the time arrives, you’ll be able to exchange V-Bucks for some or all of the cosmetics shown above.
