Wednesday, in the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2020 World Championship in Katowice, Poland, G2 Esport and Team Liquid won the game for the third round of Group B’s upper bracket.
G2 Esports suffered a 16-13 turnaround to Dust II mousesports with a 16-6 Inferno win and a 16-7 Nuke victory.
The victory has propelled G2 Esports on the list of Evil Geniuses sent by Team Liquid. Team Liquid won a 16-7 Overpass victory and overcame Nuke’s 19-15% reversal to win a 16-10 Inferno win.
Wednesday’s winners were Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan to progress into the lower Group A’s third round.
The 2:1 loss to Fnatic was a 2-0 victory over Ninjas, Natus Vincere rebounded on Tuesday in Pyjamas. They won Mirage 16-3 and Rail 16-10 for their lower bracket. They took the win 16-3.
After recording a 2-1 win over Team Vitality, FaZe Clan will challenge Natus Vincere. FaZe Clan defeated Mirage’s 16-14 reversal by registering a 16-11 Nuke win and a 16-10 Inferno triumph.
In group B, 100 Thieves scored a 2-0 victory over TYLOO in the first round in lower brackets, winning 16-9 on Inferno and 16-10 on Vertigo.
TYLOO were Asia Closed Qualifyer’s top players in January, but they took a position to replace Vici Gaming because, in the wake of the relentless coronavirus epidemic, one of their players could not secure a China visa.
The other low bracket match on Wednesday saw Mad Lions 2-1 victory over Virtus.pro. Mad Lions scored a 16-14 Overpass victory and rebounded with a 16-13 Dust II win after a 16-7 loss on Vertigo. Both Virtus.pro and TYLOO were eliminated from the tournament.
A spot in the six-team single-elimination playoff bracket will be awarded to winners of the second round of upper bracket. Each group’s winner will directly lead to the semifinals.
This is Thursday’s best-of-three group stage with the top three teams of each group going to the playoff bracket. Since Friday until Sunday in the 16 team CSGO $500,000 tournament, winners of the Best of Five Grand Finals will be given the top $250,000.
