South Korean electronics conglomerate Samsung has been named the latest sponsor of Envy Gaming’s Team Envy and Overwatch League franchise Dallas Fuel.
The partnership was revealed via Twitter over the weekend with a trailer that showed footage from Overwatch and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and the slogan “Always Gaming. Always Texas.”

Samsung has a considerable workforce and infrastructure in the state of Texas, including a $17 billion (£13.8 billion) Samsung Austin Semiconductor manufacturing plant that employs more than 10,000 people. Envy Gaming is based out of Dallas, as are both the Fuel and the organisation’s Call of Duty League franchise, Dallas Empire, which seems to not be included in the deal.
Samsung also sponsors the current Lone Star Challenge event, which spans three weeks of online Overwatch matches between Dallas Fuel and Beasley Media Group’s Houston Outlaws.

Team Envy currently competes in games such as CS:GO, Rocket League, Fortnite, and Magic: The Gathering Arena. Samsung joins fellow Team Envy sponsors Jack in the Box, Acer Predator, Greyhound, CORSAIR, and Jack Link’s Jerky.
Esports Insider says: Samsung is a huge sponsor, and the Texas angle is interesting. We’ll be curious to see how Envy and Samsung decide to activate that locally, especially as the state begins opening up again following shelter-in-place orders.
