Samsung has signed on as the main partner of the DreamHack
Mobile Series; the digital festival company’s first major foray into mobile phone esports. As part of the deal, Samsung will deliver official tournament phones, with both the Samsung Galaxy S10 and A70 to be featured at events, and an expo booth for the phone manufacturer. “We are excited to join forces with DreamHack this year, as we have a growing consumer base of gamers,” said Andreas Bergqvist, product manager telecom Samsung Nordics. “This is a natural development as we have continued [to] lead the mobile industry with innovative products where the quality of the screen as well as the power and performance support a top-notch gaming experience.”

In an interview with The Esports Observer last year, DreamHack chief strategy officer Tomas Lyckedal said the company was looking to attract more mobile gamers to its events, due to a decreasing number of PC owners among the younger generation. “I think from a strategic standpoint for DreamHack, in order to be relevant in 10-years we need to deal with that,” he said.
