Samsung Partners with DreamHack for Mobile Gaming Series

  • Samsung will be the presenting partner for the DreamHack Mobile Series, a two-game tournament launched in March 2019.
  • The Series features Clash Royale and Brawl Stars, with a collective prize pool of $20K USD per event.
  • This follows from last week’s news that ESL would launch a new mobile gaming series with Vodafone, focused on 5G technology.

Mobile Series; the digital festival company’s first major foray into mobile phone esports. As part of the deal, Samsung will deliver official tournament phones, with both the Samsung Galaxy S10 and A70 to be featured at events, and an expo booth for the phone manufacturer. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The DreamHack Mobile Series, launched in March 2019, features two games by Supercell Database-Link-e1521645463907

: Brawl Stars, a 3vs3 shooter title; and strategy game Clash Royale Database-Link-e1521645463907. Samsung’s support of the events will first be visible during DreamHack Summer, in Jönköping, Sweden, and at a one-off Mobile Series qualifier at the Samsung Experience Store in Stockholm—both taking place in June.

“We are excited to join forces with DreamHack this year, as we have a growing consumer base of gamers,” said Andreas Bergqvist, product manager telecom Samsung Nordics. “This is a natural development as we have continued [to] lead the mobile industry with innovative products where the quality of the screen as well as the power and performance support a top-notch gaming experience.”

In an interview with The Esports Observer last year, DreamHack chief strategy officer Tomas Lyckedal said the company was looking to attract more mobile gamers to its events, due to a decreasing number of PC owners among the younger generation. “I think from a strategic standpoint for DreamHack, in order to be relevant in 10-years we need to deal with that,” he said.
