Rogue vs JDG Series Recap

by Rohat Dicle Kılınç

With their 3-0 victory against Rogue, JDG moves on to the Semifinals while the last Western team remaining says goodbye to Worlds 2022.

RGE vs JDG (Game 1)

JDG came into the series with extreme aggression from Kanavi in the jungle, who started out with an early invade and was trying to starve Malrang. RGE managed to find the first blood with a top lane gank but JDG answered with two kills in the top as well. Despite this huge lead by Kanavi, RGE was able to punish the JDG ADC to find a couple of kills, keep the gold close and also secure the first two drakes. The gold lead started to increase once the fights become more 5v5 oriented and we saw the patented JDG teamfighting come out, especially with a 100+ CS up Graves. Fortunately for RGE, Malrang stole a crucial drake to give his team the Soul point, but a losing teamfight after meant a Baron for JDG. RGE tried to resist the Baron siege, but JDG was so ahead at this point that their engage failed and the LPL champions took a 1-0 series lead.

  • Teams: JDG 1 – 0 RGE
  • Time: 29:14
  • Kills: 13 – 6
  • Turrets: 10 – 3
  • Gold: 56.3k – 46.9k
  • Dragons: 1 – 3
  • Barons: 1 – 0

RGE vs JDG (Game 2)

RGE banned Graves for Game 2, but Kanavi masterclass continued as the JDG jungler found a level three dive in the bot lane for the first blood plus one. RGE still got one back in the top lane as an answer. But this bot lane pressure meant JDG was the ones starting to stack early drakes this time around, while still getting the first Herald. A couple of kills RGE found were able to keep them in the game, but with a 40 CS lead in the bot lane and the first tower at 12 minutes, the gold lead was 2k for JDG. The lead for the LPL team kept growing as their map play was superior to RGE, even sneaking a Baron under their noses. But JDG overextended during their Baron siege and gave up two kills which let RGE tie them in drakes. But neither the drakes nor the throw with the first Baron did not matter as JDG didn’t let go of their map control and just forced another Baron at spawn. They found a fight and got two kills, which was enough for them to push for the end and put themselves on the series point.

  • Teams: RGE 0 – 2 JDG
  • Time: 29:36
  • Kills: 6 – 10
  • Turrets: 2 – 9
  • Gold: 48k – 58.9k
  • Dragons: 2 – 2
  • Barons: 0 – 2

RGE vs JDG (Game 3)

With only one life remaining for them, RGE went back to their tried and true Kalista/Soraka bot lane as they had trouble getting their bot lane ahead all series. And it paid off for them as they found the first two kills of the game in a 2v2. RGE bot lane winning their lane wasn’t enough though, as 369 was running amok in the bot lane and managed to influence other lanes as well. Still, the gold was even at 15 minutes with RGE two drakes ahead. JDG was able to find some advantageous fights for themselves, but this time RGE was ready to hold their ground and after a great double kill from Larssen they put themselves on Soul point. But a couple of crucial mistakes from RGE gave JDG just the edge they needed. And after 369 found one last engage in the mid lane, RGE got completely wiped and JDG destroyed the nexus towers to put themselves into the Semifinals.

  • Teams: RGE – JDG
  • Time: 33:02
  • Kills: 10 – 14
  • Turrets: 1 – 7
  • Gold: 52.3k – 58.6k
  • Dragons: 3 – 2
  • Barons: 0 – 0
