RNG qualifies for the EPICENTER – esportsjunkie

by Shehryar Raza

The EPICENTER regional qualifiers are about to conclude in a few hours. So we are almost aware of almost all the participants that will be participating in the last Major of the season. One of the most shocking results was witnessed in the Chinese region were we saw a team prevailing against all the odds.

The entire Dota 2 community is familiar with the fact that Royal Never Give Up has been an underperforming team. The side had little to no impact in the entire DPC season. Nonetheless, it didn’t stop the team to secure their first Major qualification of the season. It wasn’t an easy road for them, since they beat one of the strongest teams, Vici Gaming, to secure the invite. The roster of the team include some of the most decorated player in the competitive history of the game. So they will expect to get the best possible result at the EPICENTER. Yet, it will be a quite difficult task since every team will be fighting tooth and nail for the last few spot of the TI9.

Tough luck for Newbee

It is great to see a new team emerging from the Chinese ranks. We believe that another new team could have emerged alongside RNG. Newbee, the runners-up of the TI7 had an incredible run in the group phase of the regional qualifiers. Yet unfortunately they had to face Vici Gaming in the first game of the playoffs. After losing the first opportunity, the team fought had for the second spot, yet again their difficult fte led them to Vici Gaming. They put up an exciting fight in the second encounter but their efforts went in vain.  VG claim the second spot and since they have already secured the TI9 invite, they will be aiming to train for the TI9.

Don’t think for a second that the end of the Major qualifiers means the end of the Dota2 actions. Since in a few day we will have the minor qualifiers. During that the open qualifiers of the TI9 will also kick off. So it will be exciting to see that if Newbee has what it takes to take the long way to the TI9. We believe that if they continue performing this well the they are the solid candidates from the regional qualifiers.

Fnatic get the last SEA spot

A day ago, Fnatic beat MYSG  in the final closed qualifier match of EPICENTER Major 2019. The team led by Daryl Koch “iceiceice” Pei Xiang received the last slot in the tournament from Southeast Asia. Earlier, TNC Predator claimed the first spot of the Major after taking being the best team in the group stage. EPICENTER Major 2019 will be held from 22 to 30 June. 16 teams from six regions will participate in the tournament. The prize fund will be one million dollars and 15 thousand DPC rating points.
