Rekkles Joins T1 Academy for 2024 According To Reports

by Marn

Will Rekkles be the only Western player moving to the East this offseason?

Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson has reached a verbal agreement with T1 according to Sheep Esports. The news broke within that hour that shocked the entire LoL Esports community, with many expecting the Swedish star to return to the LEC this coming offseason. Rekkles joins T1 Academy roster to compete in the 2024 Challengers League and recently visited the T1 headquarters on multiple occasions during the 2023 League of Legends World Championship according to the report by Brieuc “LEC Wooloo” Seeger.

Despite considering offers to play in the LEC next split, Rekkles has apparently decided to make history and be one of the select few Western players to play in Korea. This news comes after Sheep Esports reported that Liiv Sandbox attempted to persuade North American Mid laner Joseph Joon “jojopyun” Pyun to join the LCK squad over Cloud9.

Rekkles to join T1’s Academy: How Did We Get Here?

As mentioned above, Rekkles reportedly had offers to compete in the LEC next season, which was the obvious choice prior to this reporting. Rekkles stepped down from Fnatic’s starting roster ahead of the Summer Split. Prior to his departure, the Swedish veteran announced he would be role-swapping to Support. Rekkles would not find himself on Fnatic or any starting roster for that matter following his role swap, but many would have expected he would have been able to find himself back on the stage sooner rather than later.

Rekkles will join the organization that just hoisted the League of Legends World Championship. T1 took home the gold in convincing fashion in front of their home fans after a 3-0 sweep of the LPL’s Weibo Gaming. It will be interesting to see how Rekkles will perform in a new environment.
