PGL announced today that they will be hosting the RMR tournaments for the upcoming CSGO Major in April of 2022. The RMR events for PGL Antwerp Major will take place in Bucharest, Romania, at the PGL Studios. All three events will be played on LAN and teams must travel to Romania to attend the event.
They had already announced that PGL Antwerp Major would be taking place from May 9th – May 22nd and take place on LAN, with the playoffs at the Antwerps Sportpaleis Arena.
According to the new CSGO Major rulebook from Valve, there will be no direct invites or RMR points based on previous Majors. Each team will have to qualify for the PGL Antwerp Major based on their performance in the RMR tournament. The RMR will start from 11th April and run until 24th April for all 3 regions.

PGL ANTWERP RMR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
As per the press release from PGL esports, the schedule for the RMR is as follows:
- Americas RMR (16 teams): April 11-14
- Asia RMR (4 teams): April 15-16
- Europe RMR A (16 teams): April 17-20
- Europe RMR B (16 teams): April 21-24
Europe has been broken up into 2 because of the number of teams coming from both the CIS and European regions.
HOW MANY TEAMS WILL QUALIFY FOR PGL ANTWERP MAJOR?
As per the Major rulebook and the announcement from PGL, there will be 24 teams at PGL Antwerp. 8 teams will qualify as Legends, 8 as Challengers and 8 as Contenders. Based on the results from the previous CSGO Major – PGL Stockholm, the slot distribution in the different stages is as follows:
- LEGENDS – 7 Europe & 1 Americas
- CHALLENGERS – 6 Europe & 2 Americas
- CONTENDERS – 3 Europe, 3 Americas & 2 Asia-Pacific
As per the format, a limited number of teams will be invited to the RMR tournaments while the rest will have to qualify through open qualifiers.
AMERICAS RMR
- The first RMR event will be for the Americas – North and South America and feature 16 teams.
- Only FURIA will be invited as the rest of the teams changed more than 3 players such as EG and Team Liquid and will have to qualify through Open Qualifiers.
- The team placing first will go through as Legends, 2-3rd will qualify as Challengers and 4-6 as Contenders
ASIA RMR
- Each team will qualify through open Qualifiers, no invites.
- Since there will only be 4 teams, top 2 teams will qualify as Contenders.
EUROPE A RMR
- There will be 16 teams in each of the European RMRs.
- Invited teams – Natus Vincere, Heroic, Virtus.pro, Team Vitality, Copenhagen Flames, Astralis, ENCE (Based on performance at PGL Stockholm). Rest will qualify from open qualifiers.
- Top 4 – Legend Status, Places 5-6 – Challengers and Places 7-8 – Contenders.
EUROPE B RMR
- Invited teams – G2 Esports, Gambit Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Entropiq, FaZe Clan, MOUZ. 10 others through open qualifiers.
- Top 3 teams will get Legend Status, 4-7 as Challengers and 8th place will get Contender status. Rest will be eliminated.
WILL PLAYERS HAVE TO BE VACCINATED TO PLAY IN THE RMR AND PGL ANTWERP MAJOR?
According to PGL’s statement players, talent and the rest of the crew need to be vaccinated to appear for the RMR as well as the Major. They said
As we’ve announced since last year, starting with 2022, all participating players, talent, and crew must be fully vaccinated. This applies to both the RMR events and PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
