OGN Super League 2019 Plan Unveiled, LG and SONY Partner for Series

Korean esports production company OGN has announced its 2019 plans for the OGN Super League (OSL), which will feature multiple esports events and eight game titles—including Dota Auto Chess.

The OSL plans to add games for PC, mobile, console, and even VR. In addition, OSL will set up an esports communication platform to connect players and game developers.

LG UltraGear has been named title sponsor for OSL, and Sony Interactive Entertainment will provide PlayStation equipment as a platform partner.

On April 24, Korean esports production company OGN

hosted a media day conference called “New E-sports League” in Seoul’s Sangam S-Flex Center. At the event, OGN announced the 2019 plans for its sports brand – the OGN Super League (OSL). The company plans to host multiple esports events in the coming months, featuring eight different game titles.

LG UltraGear will be the title sponsor of OSL, and Sony Interactive Entertainment will provide PlayStation equipment to the tournament as a platform partner.

Dota Auto Chess, a Dota 2 custom game mode created by Chinese game developer Drodo Studio, will be the first title added into the OSL game system. The Dota Auto Chess tournament will be streamed on Twitch

beginning May 29, with a seven-week duration. It should be noted that the tournament does not include the mobile version of the game – Auto Chess, which Drodo Studio has been developing in partnership with Long Mobile and Chinese production company ImbaTV.

The remaining seven game titles will be announced in June, August, and October. According to the announcement, OSL will attempt to add multiple game platforms in its tournament system, including PC, mobile, consoles, and VR. In addition, OSL will build an esports communication platform in order to better help players communicate with game developers.

OGN (formerly known as Ongamenet) is owned by South Korean mass media company CJ E&M, itself a division of CJ ENM. Originally founded in 2000, the company has hosted major Korean events for games including Starcraft II and Overwatch . OGN hosted the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) until 2018, after which Riot Games

took over production of the competition. OGN branched out to North America in 2019 by hosting the National PUBG League (NPL).
