Super League Gaming Expands to China With Wanda Cinemas Games Deal

Amateur esports event operator Super League Gaming has partnered with Wanda Cinemas Games, a subsidiary of Chinese media conglomerate Wanda Media, expanding Super League operations to the Asian market.

Super League Gaming’s model of operating esports competitions in movie theaters will now be brought to Wanda’s 700+ theaters across China.

China is one of the largest esports markets in the world. A 2017 report by Tencent ranked China as second in the world in esports-generated revenue behind North America, with an esports audience of 250M. A recent report by Newzoo and PwC projected that the market will continue to grow at a compound annual rate of 21% until 2023.

Super League Gaming has steadily expanded its operations over the last 18 months through a variety of partnerships including a deal with Tencent for PUBG MOBILE, another with Capcom for Street Fighter, and most recently with ggCircuit to bring its operations to gaming centers throughout the world.
