The Chicago-based team in Activision Blizzard’s upcoming Call of Duty League will be known as the Chicago Huntsmen, franchise owner NRG Esports announced today.
The Huntsmen will use the slogan, “Be the hunter, not the hunted,” and an introduction on the official league website reads, “Like the land we come from, we are ready for anything; rain, wind, sun, or snow, we’ve been through it all and have the scars to prove it.”
In September, former OpTic Gaming CEO Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez joined NRG Esports as co-CEO. Two of his previous Call of Duty World League championship-winning players, Seth “Scump” Abner and Matthew “FormaL” Piper, will play for the Huntsmen in 2020.
Eleven of the 12 Call of Duty League teams have now revealed their branding, with only c0ntact Gaming’s Paris franchise still unannounced. The league will begin play at the Minneapolis Armory on Jan. 24-26, 2020, with a launch weekend competition hosted by the Minnesota Røkkr that will feature all 12 teams.
