Top Fortnite players and Duo partners Clix and Deyy have joined NRG.
A few days ago, Fortnite superstar Cody “Clix” Conrod shockingly announced his departure from NRG after two years under the organization’s banner. Questions naturally flooded social media; where would Clix sign next? The 17-year-old professional player possesses one of Fortnite’s most popular Twitch streams.
Clix’s exit from NRG seemed sudden but certainly had some question marks surrounding the move. He did not change his business email on Twitter, nor did he take down the massive NRG banner behind him. Clix soon revealed more news to announce, which would occur during a Twitch stream on February 24.
In a plot twist that surprised no one, Clix officially re-signed with NRG. What’s more, the organization signed Clix’s Duo partner Dejsean “Deyy” Hew. A two-time Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) winner—Deyy is one of the world’s best players and finally has an organization to call home.
NRG Clix & NRG Deyy Ready to Dominate
It’s not common to see a Fortnite Duo signed to the same organization. Some historical tandems that come to mind include FaZe Clan members Danny “Dubs” Walsh and Noam “Megga” Ackenine. We can add the talented NRG Clix and Deyy to the list.
The lead-up created intrigue; both NRG and FaZe Clan planted the seed, tweeting out curious eye emojis. However, most expected to see Clix and Deyy announce NRG as their destination. That prediction panned out via Clix’s Twitch stream and a video welcoming Deyy to NRG.
NRG’s Executive Producer — Grady Rains — appeared in the video. He and NRG member AussieAntics discussed what the org could do to rally the community. Ultimately, the paid agreed, “Today is the day.”
Deyy the Controller King
Many regard Deyy as one of the best players in the world. Known for his aggression and piece control—Deyy uses every tool available to dominate opponents. A common joke amongst the scene revolves around whether Deyy uses a Cronus Zen; a device some players utilize to increase their aim assist.
The announcement video poked fun at this idea, depicting Grady Rains inspecting Deyy’s controller before rolling the montage.
Clix x Deyy: History & What Lies Ahead
Clix and Deyy began playing together in early 2021. The pair found immediate success, claiming a DreamHack Open title. The Duo’s gameplay set them apart from all others purely due to their ability to compile eliminations. Clix and Deyy have performed consistently well over the past year, racking up several other high DreamHack Open results.
The Duo shifts focus to the FNCS Semi-Finals this weekend. They hope to qualify for the Grand Finals to compete for a share of $3M USD. While Deyy has claimed two previous FNCS titles, Clix is looking for his first.
Their playstyle alone makes them a threat to every other team. Be sure to tune in this weekend as Clix and Deyy hope to qualify for the Chapter 3 Season 1 Final.
