NFL Week 6 Predictions and Picks: Betting Tips (All Games)

by ThePicksAdmin

Week 6 in the NFL has started. Thursday Night Football is over for the week. It will come as no surprise that the Denver Broncos fell to the Kansas City Chiefs. The final score of the game was 19-8 as the Broncos fell to 1-5 while the KC Chiefs improved to 5-1. The score was among our NFL Week 6 predictions so we’re happy to be off to a 1-0 start.

This is the page you need if you want to follow the rest of our NFL Week 6 Predictions and Picks. Firstly, we have noted the opening odds for the week. We have been monitoring the news and developments leading up to the games. Lastly, we will have all of the selections for the games in the table below. We did get the Thursday night game correct, recommending UNDER 49.0 points in the contest — a bet that hit very safely. As Week 6 plays out, the table of recommendations below turns into a table of final scores. Not only does that give bettors a one-stop spot for all of the results but you can see how we did with our selections.

How to Use this Webpage

NFL Week 6 will play out from October 12th, 2023, to October 16th, 2023. On Sunday, there is an overseas game as the Baltimore Ravens will take on the Tennessee Titans in London. The Monday Night Football game in Week 6 will feature the Dallas Cowboys at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Our picks are organized into a table. The final column in the table has a date in brackets. That date is the date that the pick was made. That’s important to note because any news after that date did not factor into the recommendation.

We do change our picks, which includes the occasional flip-flop. But when we make changes, we use the “cross-out” feature so that previous picks are still legible in the chart. Any time that opening odds are mentioned in this article, they describe the odds from when we first noticed the odds for the game. The date in brackets after the opening odds is the first time we noted the odds or spread for the game in question. Also, all odds and spreads are from bet365 sportsbook.

Early Recommendation for NFL Week 6

Teams that are coming off of a bye week from Week 5 are the Chargers, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Browns. These are teams that will, presumptively, have better injury reports than their counterparts. They are bolded in the games below. Bettors should expect a better-than-average version of these teams.

The teams that are on a bye in Week 6 will be the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have no game in the chart below accordingly. Our Top Ten NFL Power Rankings for Week 6 is a great resource for bettors looking to see who the powerhouse teams in the NFL are this season.

Broncos vs Chiefs

Opening odds: Chiefs -10.5

This game is over. It wasn’t the most thrilling game but the Chiefs improved to 5-1 with a 19-8 victory over Denver. Our week started off right as our recommendation for Thursday night hit.

Ravens vs Titans

Opening odds: Ravens -4.0

This game will be the early game on Sunday, one that is coming from London. The start time is 9:30 AM ET for those watching in North America. Our recommendation is to take the OVER in this game. Baltimore is coming off of a ten-point performance but they were up against a very good defense. Meanwhile, Tennessee has some ball-moving options.

Panthers vs Dolphins

Opening odds: Dolphins -10.5

The Dolphins are bigger favorites in this game as of Wednesday relative to when we first looked at the odds. They have gone from -10.5 to -13.5 amidst some injury report news. The Panthers have a long injury report that could make them a worse team than what we’ve already seen. Accordingly, we’re going with the Miami Dolphins to cover in this game.

Colts vs Jaguars

Opening odds: Jaguars -4.5

The Jacksonville Jaguars return home after a productive stay in the UK. The Jags will host the 3-2 Indianapolis Colts. The winner o this game will be the front runner in the AFC South. Look for Jacksonville to continue their sharp play of late and hand the Colts a loss. There was not a lot to the injury report for this game. Both teams are in very good health for their 53-man roster.

Vikings vs Bears

Opening odds: Vikings -4.5

The Minnesota Vikings were bigger favorites a few days ago for this game. The line has budged from -4.5 to -2.5 in recent days. The big news with this game is that Justin Jefferson will be missing it. But will that make the Vikings hard to predict offensively? With a bad injury report on Chicago’s side, the right pick is still to go with Minnesota here in a game that could be called “must-win” to keep playoff hopes reasonable.

Saints vs Texans

Opening odds: Saints -1.0

The Saints and Texans have a long injury report. There appear to be challenges for both teams in this game. But New Orleans heads into the contest coming off of a huge win last week. They are a tough team to bet against at this point, especially as they come up against a team that remains unproven.

Seahawks vs Bengals

Opening odds: Bengals -2.0

The Cincinnati Bengals barely budged this week. They were -2.0 when we first looked at the odds several days ago. Heading into the final day of practice, they are -2.5. The Seattle Seahawks did have a bad injury report for a team coming off of a bye week. Also, Cincinnati is starting to look like the team we all expected from the start of the season. In an important game, we’re going with OVER for total points. Seattle has proven they can score on the road while Cincinnati should be getting into an offensive groove soon.

49ers vs Browns

Opening odds: 49ers -3.0

The 49ers opened as -3.0 favorites. Presumably, that had something to do with the fact that the Cleveland Browns had a bye week last week. Then, the injury report happened. The 49ers are in great shape for this game while Cleveland’s quarterback may not play. Mix in some other injury concerns, including to Myles Garrett, and the game almost looks like a throwaway game for the Browns. Take San Francisco to cover a -9.5 spread in this contest.

Commanders vs Falcons

Opening odds: Falcons -1.5

The Falcons and Commanders each have a very good injury report the week. This game looks like it will be settled by talent as opposed to injury luck. The Falcons have certainly been the better team to open the season. They are our recommendation for this game on the moneyline, a game where the spread has budged by just one point over the last several days.

Patriots vs Raiders: Injury Report for Week 6

Opening odds: Raiders -1.0

The New England Patriots and the Las Vegas Raiders are each off to bad starts. They will meet on Sunday, October 15th, 2023 (4:25 PM ET). This is one of those swing games where the winner will feel some optimism going forward and the loser will almost start thinking about selling before the trade deadline. The Patriots vs Raiders injury report is a long one, in fact, one of the longest injury reports of the current NFL season.

New England vs Las Vegas Injury Report: Recent NFL Headlines

The codes commonly used on NFL injury reports are listed in the embedded tweet below.

The New England Patriots have an enormous injury report heading into Week 6. Sixteen names have appeared on the report this week, making it one of the longest injury reports of the season.

Trey Flower has a foot injury and has been LP so far this week. But this is really just the tip of the iceberg with this team. The Patriots are littered with several questionable players among offensive and defensive starters. Also, there are second-string players that have problems. It’s safe to say that they are going through a very non-standard week of practice.

The Raiders listed ten different players on their half of the report as of Thursday after practice. However, five of them were FP after Thursday. One of the FP players is Jakobi Meyers, one of their better wide receivers. Davante Adams is LP with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby, their defensive juggernaut, is LP heading into Friday as well. Those are two very important players. But due to the size of New England’s injury report, you’d think the Raiders are slightly ahead when looking at the report in isolation.

Patriots vs Raiders Injury Report: Betting Tips

The Raiders are just small favorites at -2.5 (bet365). But the Patriots have no momentum. They aren’t going to go from suffering two of the worst losses we’ve seen out of them in a long time to road winners in a matter of a week. Take the Raiders to cover what can only be called a small spread.

Cardinals vs Rams

Opening odds: Rams -4.0

The line has budged in this game. The Cardinals were just -4.0 several days ago but they are now -7.0. It looks like the injury report has had a hand in swaying things. Here are some bullet points following Friday’s update.

Arizona Cardinals:

  • Twelve different players were listed on the injury report over the week.
  • Jalen Thompson, a free safety, was listed as “out” for the game.
  • Eight other players were either “limited participation” (LP) or “did not participate” (DNP).
  • Marquise Brown, one of the starting receivers, is questionable for the game due to illness.
  • The Cardinals could be missing multiple defensive starters.

Los Angeles Rams:

  • Eight players were listed on the Rams’ injury report this week.
  • Two players were on the report for “NIR” (non-injury related) reasons.
  • After Friday’s update, three players were “full participants” (FP).
  • Joe Noteboom, Larrell Murchison, and Ernest Jones were listed as “limited participation” (LP).
  • The Rams have just three questionable players, suggesting they are in good shape for the game, especially in comparison to the Cardinals.
  • Overall, it seems that the Rams have fewer injuries and are in better shape compared to the Cardinals in terms of player availability for the upcoming game.

Lions vs Buccaneers

Opening odds: Lions -3.0

Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

  • The Buccaneers had a relatively favorable injury report (11 players during the week)
  • Nine of those players were listed as “full participants” (FP) after Friday’s update.
  • Mike Evans, who initially appeared on the report, improved from “did not participate” (DNP) to “full participant” during the week.
  • The Buccaneers’ good injury report may be due to the fact that they are coming off a bye week.

Detroit Lions:

  • The Lions had a more challenging injury report with thirteen players listed.
  • Seven of those players were listed as “out” after Friday’s practice, though many of them were support players rather than first-string starters.
  • Some questionable players include tight end Sam LaPorta, who has a calf injury that limited his practice.
  • Other notable names on the report include Frank Ragnow and Amon-Ra St. Brown, but both of whom were listed as “full participants” after Friday’s practice.
  • Despite some improvements, the Lions’ injury report is less favorable compared to the Buccaneers.

Eagles vs Jets

Opening odds: Eagles -6.5

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets have some key players dealing with injuries for their upcoming game.

For the Philadelphia Eagles:

  1. Rashaad Penny is one of the running backs, and he was a full participant (FP) in practice on Friday, so he’s expected to play.
  2. Darius Slay, a cornerback, remained a Did Not Participate (DNP) in practice on Friday due to a knee injury and is out for the game.
  3. Quez Watkins, who has a hamstring problem, was added to the injury report on Friday and is also out for the game.
  4. Justin Evans and Jalen Carter are also out for the game.

There are some other questionable players on the team whose status for the game is uncertain.

For the New York Jets:

  1. DJ Reed, a defensive starter, is confirmed to miss the game.
  2. Sauce Gardner is listed as questionable due to an illness, which could impact the Jets’ defensive performance.

In summary, both teams have notable players missing the game or facing uncertainties due to injuries and illnesses. Overall, we’re with the Jets and their +6.5 handicap based on the fact that they would be 4-1 this season if that handicap was applied to their games.

Giants vs Bills

Opening odds: Bills -13.5

The odds in this game have shifted a little. The Bills were -13.5 several days ago but now they are out at -15.0. The injury situation for the New York Giants, a team already struggling this season, seems quite dire. With 18 players listed on their injury report, including some key players like Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, NYG doesn’t stand much of a chance in this game. Bettors definitely cannot be expected the best version of the Giants in this game — which wasn’t an elite team to begin with.

On the other side, the Buffalo Bills have a much more favorable situation with only eight players on their injury report. Five of them were listed as full participants in practice, which is a positive sign. However, the fact that three players – Dane Jackson, Dalton Kincaid, and Dawson Knox – are questionable for the game means that they do have some concerns, but it’s a far less severe situation compared to the Giants. It all means bettors should expect a big Buffalo win.

Cowboys vs Chargers

Opening odds: Cowboys -2.5

The Monday night game is our pick for those who want to get a bet in early. Take the +2.5 handicap on the home-team LA Chargers ahead of Week 5. There’s a chance that Dallas takes some bad injury luck in what promises to be a physical game against the San Francisco 49ers. Also, Week 5 was a bye week for LA so they should be ready for Week 6.

Dallas Cowboys vs LA Chargers injury report

The Cowboys had the majority of their injury-watch players listed as “FP” (Full Participation) following Saturday’s practice, indicating that they were likely to be available for the upcoming game. This suggests that the initial concern over their injury report may have been somewhat exaggerated, and the team is in relatively decent shape for the game.

On the other hand, the Chargers, who are coming off a bye week, still had a notable number of players listed on their injury report. It’s unfortunate that some key defensive starters, like Joey Bosa, were dealing with injuries, and second-string offensive players were expected to be out. Teams generally aim to use bye weeks to heal and rest, so it’s disappointing when a team is not near full health after a bye.
