Filip “NEO” Kubski has been named as the FaZe interim coach for IEM Cologne 2023
FaZe have introduced NEO as their interim Head Coach, marking his return to the organization for a second tenure. Prior to this role, NEO had a trial as an in-game leader for the team back in 2019.

The recent announcement aligns with the report by Dust2.us, officially confirming NEO as FaZe’s coach for IEM Cologne. The highly awaited event boasting a prize pool of $1 million will see NEO’s coaching debut with the team during the group stage, starting on July 29.
Why Is NEO Taking Charge As FaZe Interim Coach?
The latest development follows Robert “RobbaN” Dahlström’s surprise announcement on Thursday, wherein he declared his departure from the coaching position, concluding an impressive seven-year journey with the organization. As a result, FaZe is now left without a coach as they begin their season.
Who Is NEO?
NEO’s history with the organization is notable, having temporarily assumed the IGL role in 2019 after Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s exit. FaZe’s campaign at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles 2019 saw them come tantalizingly close to victory under NEO’s leadership, but their journey ended prematurely, leading to NEO’s departure after five months. Marcelo “coldzera” David briefly took on the calling responsibilities before karrigan’s return in early 2021.
After leaving FaZe, NEO actively engaged in the Polish esports landscape, playing an instrumental role in founding HONORIS alongside Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas. Unfortunately, financial limitations compelled the team to halt its operations in March. Now, NEO is ready to stand behind FaZe at IEM Cologne.
How Long Will NEO Serve As FaZe’s Interim Coach?
The renowned Polish player, celebrated for numerous titles earned during his time with Virtus.pro, including the prestigious EMS One Katowice 2014 Major, is set to unite with the team just in time for IEM Cologne. The nature of NEO’s commitment, whether temporary or full-time, remains undisclosed.
FaZe find themselves in Group B for the German event, pitted against formidable opponents like Natus Vincere, G2, and Vitality. The group stage will also feature the participation of four Play-In teams.
