Naruto Fortnite was one of the game’s first anime crossover, what was included though and is it ever coming back to the game?
Naruto Fortnite is one of the earliest anime franchises to make it into the Battle Royale. It’s this shonen content in Fortnite that’s paved the way for crossovers like Dragon Ball X Fortnite and more. Fortnite Naruto is one of our biggest anime crossovers with Fortnite so far though, getting more skins than most of the tie-ins that have come since. Between all of the Naruto Fortnite skins and the various waves we’ve had, it’s a big part of the game. If you missed the Naruto in Fortnite content we’re going to cover everything that’s been in Battle Royale so far.
Fortnite is one of the craziest crossover games at the moment. There’s Fortnite X Star Wars content in at the same time as Spider-Man Web Slingers and more. Fortnite X Naruto was the very first crossover with anime though. Coming as part of a wider deal between Shueisha and Epic Games, it celebrates one of the biggest manga and anime franchises. There’s been a lot of Fortnite Naruto skins, but it hasn’t actually gotten any in-game items as we’ve seen in more recent crossovers.
This guide covers everything you need to know about Fortnite X Naruto, what came to the game, and if it’s ever coming back. All of the skins and their alternative styles that we saw over the different Fortnite Naruto updates. Along with what we know about future Naruto content, and when we can expect to see some of it make a return to the game.
Naruto Fortnite – What Was the Crossover?
The Fortnite Naruto crossover was a collaboration that pushed what could be included in the Battle Royale. When the first wave arrived, we saw the Fortnite anime style in full for the first time. This was a cel-shader built on the borderlands crossover that came earlier. At this point, every single Battle Pass and update has new skins with the anime filter applied, and they’re even some of the sweatiest skins in Fortnite. When we saw Naruto Fortnite for the first time though, it was brand new.
The Naruto Fortnite crossover included multiple skins in the game. At first, it focused on the main characters of the manga. With further waves they’ve expanded out into more characters though! These came with back blings and other add-on cosmetics. There were even some emotes you can unlock for free!
The Naruto Fortnite crossover was largely focused on cosmetics. The Fortnite X Something crossovers in more recent chapters have been a bit more fleshed out. Getting some in-game items for Fortnite Naruto in the future would be fun, but it hasn’t happened so far. There’s still room for more skins from the franchise, so we could eventually see in-game additions just like with the other anime crossovers.
The Fortnite Naruto crossover was a real highlight for Fortnite at that point! It became Fortnite’s most-liked Tweet ever. Until we got more of the anime crossovers, this might have been the most popular mashup Epic had. It even eclipsed in-game stuff like Fortnite live events.
All Naruto Fortnite Skins
Since the Naruto in Fortnite crossover focused on cosmetics, these are the main part of the content. The skins were divided into a few different waves. Each had their own bundles and add-ons. This is how it broke down the Fortnite waves of in-game items.
Wave 1
The first wave of Fortntie Naruto skins came in November 2021! This was divided up into two main halves. Each set of two skins and cosmetics was sold in a bundle. These are the skins and cosmetics we got in Wave 1. Each of them even came with two styles, so you can wear a specific version of the character! It’s not as many styles as we later got for Goku, but it was impressive for a crossover at the time.
- Naruto Uzumaki
- Kakashi Hatake
- Sasuke Uchiha
- Sakura Haruno
These mainly covered the main and most popular characters for Naruto. As Fortnite Naruto was attempting to sum up a long-running series, there will always be a few disappointed fans. For the most part, this was a fun way to bring the series into the game and a nice start for anime content.
These skins each came with a bigger Fortnite Naruto Creative Map hub too! This was a dedicated Naruto experience in the game, which was quite different to what we now see with items getting added into the mainline Battle Royale itself. At release though, this was Epic pulling most of the stops!
Wave 2 – Naruto Fortnite Rivals
The second round of Naruto Fortnite skins was Naruto Rivals! This was a full-second set that hit the game in 2022. These focused on other characters in Naruto for Fortnite. However, is also introduced some different styles for the characters. Just like Wave One, most of these characters had two separate styles that you could use.
- Itachi Uchiha
- Orochimaru
- Hinata Hyuga
- Gaara
This crossover went further than just the store items this time. It also had additional cosmetics that were unlocked through an in-game feature for Wave 2. You could play through the Nindo Community Battles to earn more Naruto cosmetics. These are items you could unlock for free.
- Manda Glider
- Akatsuki Wrap
You can earn these during the initial introduction. However, they’re now available to purchase when the Naruto content comes back to the store. This a good example of why it’s better to go through quests when they’re added, not wait and end up having to give out V-Bucks instead! The Naruto Fortnite cosmetics were definitely cheaper if you did the challenges back in their original release.
Other Naruto Fortnite Cosmetics
These are the rest of the accessory items that were released alongside the skins.
Back Blings
- Hinata’s Backpack
- Sand Gourd
- Black Ops Mask
Pickaxes, Gliders, and Emotes
- Minato’s Kunal pickaxe
- Sword of Kusangi Pickaxe
- Gaara’s Sand Cloud Glider
- Manda Glider
- Rasenshuriken Emote
- Striking Shadow Snakes Emote
The bundles for some of these skins even came with more loading screens! There was the Islandbound Ninja Loading Screen that came in a bundle with Itahi and Orochimaru. The second loading screen, the Shinobi Lineup Loading Screen, came in a bundle with Gaara and Hinata. A third bundle was sold too, which included some of the additional Naruto Fortnite cosmetics like wraps.
Hidden Leaf Village Adventure Map
The Hidden Leaf Village Adventure map was a part of the second crossover for Naruto! This was a themed creative island you can explore, located at 0610-6440-1958. It was another island created to match up with manga content for Fortnite Naruto.
Is More Naruto Fortnite Coming?
Naruto Fortnite was a bit crossover, but since then we’ve got loads more anime content. There have been three different releases of Fortnite X Dragon Ball if you count Goku Black. There’s been in-game content too, which even the Fortnite X MHA crossover got some in-game. By comparison, the Fortnite X Naruto event is beginning to look a bit smaller. So are we ever getting more?
It’s difficult to say for certain what Epic’s future plans are for crossovers, beyond some notable ones that shown up in Fortnite leaks like Lego. Usually, for something like more Naruto skins, we’d only know once Epic adds references in the files which are figured out by fans, like what happened with the Goku Black release. There is definitely scope for more Naruto Fortnite content though. There’s plenty on the table for characters to get skins. The popularity of Naruto does seem pretty high too.
Unlike other crossovers, Epic has a long-standing arrangement with Shueisha so is fairly free to do these crossovers as and when. Although, they’ve been highlighting more and more other anime recently. With rumoured collabs like Demons Slayer still yet to make an appearance, we might see more of other franchises before we get more Naruto specifically. It could definitely happen though, so don’t write off your favorite more obscure character finally getting their day in the Battle Royale.
When Will the Fortnite Naruto Skin Come Back to the Store?
There might not be any immediate plans for extra Naruto X Fortnite content but that doesn’t mean that the existing skins are gone for good. Unlike the Fortnite Attack on Titan event, Naruto was almost entirely a store collab. This means the skins could theoretically cycle in any time! We’ve already seen the Fortnite Naruto skins come back quite a few times. This isn’t like the rarest Fortnite skins that never come back.
As with more content, it’s hard to make predictions about the day-to-day item shop. We can definitely expect to see Naruto again though. Once the Dragon Ball skins are back on a cooldown timer, we can probably expect to see Naruto pop back up pretty soon. At the moment Epic seems to be rotating the anime franchises. This might mean it’ll be coming back to the store at some point in Chapter 4.
