MSI Rumble Stage Day 3 sees us reach the midpoint. As we start to learn who’s making the top 4.
Today is a key day for the MSI Rumble Stage. Day 3 offers us a chance to see G2 face-off against RNG once again, the next big test for their unbeaten record. As always, it’s also a huge day for the 3 sides clashing for the 4th spot, as they look to carve out a gap between the sides below them.
MSI – EG v T1
T1 claimed a big first blood in the top lane, alongside a first turret. EG did secure a kill back shortly after, however. By the 15-minute mark, T1 had maintained a small 2k lead, however, EG were taking advantage of their lead on the bot-side. As Baron spawned on the Rift, the 2k lead was maintained. As the sides go blow-for-blow, it looked like an Objective fight was required. Disaster in the mid-lane for EG as T1 pulled the trigger on a team fight and walk away with a team fight win. T1 secured the Baron, while EG managed to claim a Drake, delaying T1’s Soul Drake building. With Baron, T1 pushed into the EG mid-lane as they looked to end. For EG, it was a close game until it suddenly wasn’t.

MSI G2 v PSG
A huge first blood for PSG as they look to deliver an upset to G2. However, as PSG over commit for the kill, G2 picked off Juhan as PSG left the area too slowly. By the 14-minute mark, the game had calmed down while G2 maintained a 1.5k lead. PSG pulled the trigger on a mid-lane fight but G2 countered. Picking off a member of PSG early as they looked to flee. As a result, G2 stopped PSG’s Drake streak. G2 claimed a big Drake fight to slow PSG’s Soul Drake, however, the fight saw PSG claim four members of G2 as PSG claimed the gold lead. PSG were able to secure Baron and get out alive. PSG push into the G2 base, as they looked to end it. All five members of G2 drop as PSG claimed a huge win as G2’s unbeaten run comes to an end. The win sees PSG rocket themselves back into the top 4 contention.

MSI – RNG v SGB
RNG claimed first blood, as they look to challenge G2 for the top spot. After first blood, RNG continued to pick up leads across the Rift. With a 3k lead at 12-minutes, RNG were looking to shut out SGB. SGB found a huge fight, with RNG splitting pressure across the map, SGB were handed a free Drake. The fight saw RNG get aced, claiming just one kill themselves. RNG did manage to reaffirm their gold lead by the 24-minute mark, however, SGB had gold in the bank with a 3-tower disadvantage. SGB opted to give up a Baron in exchange for claiming back two towers, as the match finally got some action in the late game. With Baron, RNG knock down the bot-lane inhibitor as they looked to reset. Another inhibitor dropped on the side of SGB, with RNG also claiming the Hextech Soul.
SGB looked to force a surprise fight in the RNG jungle, despite a good start RNG managed to claim the win. RNG claim the win, as they equal G2’s record at MSI as we end the first round-robin.

MSI – T1 v PSG
T1 claimed first blood in a game that they needed to win to keep their claim to the first spot. However, a bloodbath ensued after, which saw PSG talon go into a kill lead. Despite the 3-3 on kills, T1 had a 3k lead as they began to control the pace of the match. The first 5v5 team fight looked to be going the way of T1, before PSG turned it for a 2-for-1 in their favor. Sadly for PSG, they lost the mid-lane tier 1 as a result. The post-Drake fight saw T1 chasing down a retreating PSG as an ace is secured by the Korean side. By 25-minutes, T1 had an 8k lead as they looked to set up for a Baron. T1 claimed the Baron but PSG win the fight, as T1 risked a Baron flip. With just two members left with Baron, PSG look to gain map control. Despite the team fight win, PSG were unable to close the gold lead gap. T1 shut out PSG from the Soul Drake, with PSG failing to catch T1 as they fled. With the Baron control next up, T1 was able to secure three kills and moved towards ending the game. T1 secured the win as they keep pace with the top 2.

MSI – RNG v G2 Esports
First blood for RNG as they get the early advantage in the battle for first place. G2 got onto the scoreboard with Rift Herald spawning, though Herald was given over to RNG. RNG remained ahead, picking up kills or trading across the map. G2 made a play on the bot side but it takes them so long that RNG were able to push into the mid-lane inhibitor tower of G2. With Baron on the Rift, RNG had secured a 5k lead, as G2 started to fall behind on the map. A big Baron claim for RNG, they lose two members as a result, with G2 unable to punish them anymore. With Baron, RNG looked to push into G2’s base, with two members already down. G2 did their best to defend the base but RNG had too much. The win moved RNG into the top spot as G2 ended the day 0-2.

MSI – EG v SGB
Big first blood for EG, as they look to maintain their hold on the 4th spot. EG won the first big team fight of the game but with Shogun claiming a solo kill on the bot-side SGB found themselves ahead. By the 15-minute mark, SGB had remained ahead by 1k, though EG looked stronger across the map. SGB force a 5v5 in the bot-side and it’s EG who came out on top, securing an ace for just one kill given over. That fight saw EG regain the lead as they looked to bring their record to 3-3. More kills for EG as they prepare to claim the Baron. They secure it without contest from SGB as they moved 5k ahead. With Baron, EG moved further ahead as they reset and look to claim the win. SGB made a desperate attempt to hold the game but EG had too much. They secure the win and look to keep their 4th spot secured.
