MiBR falls yet again at IEM Sydney 2019 – esportsjunkie

MIBR is eliminated from the IEM Sydney 2019,competition of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO). Fallen and co. lost to Team Liquid on Saturday 2-0. The Brazilians were outplayed on Mirage 10-16. While on Nuke they lost after overtime, 15-19. The big final will take place on Sunday, between the US team and Fnatic.

Game 1

The first map, Mirage was picked by Made in Brazil. The Brazilians played on the terrorist side and won the round pistol. The team led by Gabriel “Fallen” Toledo started on the front foot by winning three rounds in a row. Yet, they were heavily countered when the Americans got a full purchase. Jonathan “EliGe” Jablonowski got an Ace and Team Liquid turned the tie, reaching the score of 9-6 at the end of the first half.

After the break, the Brazilian got the pistol round victory after a great performance by Fernando “Fer” Alvarenga. However, Liquid’s team did not allow MIBR to take the economic advantage. The Americans won six rounds in a row to lead the scoreline 15-7. The Brazilian team won a few rounds with a four-player defense set up on A bombsite, but it was not enough as the game ended 16-10 in favor for Team Liquid. EliGe had an amazing performance on Mirage with 27 kills.

Game 2

At Nuke, the Americans started on the CT side and dominated the game from the first round. They completely outplayed the Brazilians at the start by winning five consecutive rounds in a row. MIBR didn’t go into the halftime empty handed as they trailed by a decent margin, 9-6.

As Terrorists, MIBR won the pistol round and saw Coldzera secure a clutch in the second round, stabilizing the economy and achieving good stats. Yet, Team Liquid did maintain control of the match and was just one point away from victory. However, when the score reached 15-13, Taco secured two kills at the entrance of the bomb in the following round. While Fer shined for the team in the 30th round to level the score 15-15 and push the game to overtime.

As CTs, the Americans got the perfect start in overtime and took the three rounds of the first half. Nick “nitr0” Canella made a good entry in the first round of the TR side and his team ended the match in 19-15.

Meanwhile, in the 2nd semifinals, Fnatic won against NRG Esports and qualified for the grand final. The meeting ended with a score of 2-1. In the decisive match of the tournament, the Swedish team will compete against Team Liquid.

This is the third edition of Intel Extreme Masters based in Sydney, Australia. The competition hosts 16 teams and distributes US $ 250 thousand in general awards. It is also part of the Intel Grand Slam circuit. The losers of the semifinal, MIBR won $ 20,000.
