The Philadelphia Phillies held the Marlins to just one run in the first game of their series on Tuesday. Zack Wheeler had a very good outing and the Philly bullpen did not allow a run. The Marlins now find themselves in a position where they have to win two road games to advance.
The Marlins will turn to Braxton Garrett to try to prolong their season. He went 9-7 on the season with a 3.66 ERA. Garrett has not appeared in a game since September 27th, meaning he will have had six full days’ rest before he pitches on Wednesday. He was very effective during the month of September, posting a 2.29 ERA for the month. In August, he was also very good with a 3.18 ERA for the month. This all took place when Miami was in desperate need of wins. He is a good pitcher for Miami to have the mound.
The Phillies will send Aaron Nola to the mound. He went 12-9 this regular season with a 4.46 ERA. There are certainly better pitchers in the postseason. Also, Nola was not good during the month of September. He posted a month-long ERA of 5.47. His most recent outings were a little better. But between him and Garrett, you have to like Miami’s starter better.

The Marlins can be picked in this game at +135 on the moneyline (bet365). They have played so well over the last several weeks, that you have to like underdog odds on them. This game looks like a coin toss or a game that Miami should be a very small favorite in. The plus odds on Miami shouldn’t be passed on.
