San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman has been announced as a new shareholder and global brand ambassador for Luminosity Gaming.
The nine-season NFL veteran won 2014’s Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks and is a four-time Pro Bowl selection. Sherman will appear at Luminosity Gaming activations in the year ahead, and will help with player personnel decisions as the organization’s newly-named captain.
Luminosity Gaming also plans to create original content with Sherman, including videos in which Sherman and other NFL players compete with the organization’s Call of Duty team. Last week, Luminosity parent company Enthusiast Gaming was announced as the Seattle franchise owner for Activision Blizzard’s upcoming Call of Duty Global League.
“We are excited to announce this strategic relationship and welcome Richard into the Enthusiast family!” said Luminosity Gaming president Steve Maida, in a news post. “As a globally-recognized athlete and an avid gamer who was featured on the cover of Madden NFL 15, Richard is a perfect fit for us. With over 50 gaming influencers and esports professional athletes, we are looking forward to adding a Super Bowl champion to our roster.”
Last week, Enthusiast Gaming Holdings announced that it had completed the business transaction to become the parent company of Luminosity Gaming. The transaction involved J55 Capital Corp, Luminosity Gaming, and Aquilini GameCo, and the new company also acquired a non-controlling stake in the Overwatch League’s Vancouver Titans, which Luminosity operates for the Aquilini Investment Group.
