LoL Patch 13.16 Notes Nerfs Naafiri, Buffs Arena Champs

by Paul Goño

The first round of changes for LoL’s 2nd competitive split sets its sights on overperforming competitors both in and out of the Rift. Here are the highlights for LoL patch 13.16

League’s latest content patch is here, and it has a lot of buffs for all of your favorite champions. As with every turn of the ranked scene, Riot’s latest patch for League will tweak a wide range of champions and game items, and this one giving most of them a boost and tuning the ones that saw too much success last patch. This style of shaking up the meta is nothing new for the hugely-popular MOBA, which seeks to amplify what makes these viable champions fun to play. If everyone is overpowered, no one is.

So let’s dive into the most interesting bits of patch 13.16’s overhaul, mentioning its highest points, its much-needed nerfs and the latest additions to one of League’s best skin lines. Here’s everything you need to know about Patch 13.16.

LoL Patch 13.16 Notes – Nerfed Champions

First on Riot’s list of champs to fix is none other than the Hound of a Hundred Bites, Naafiri. The mid/jungle assassin has seen been a prime pick this summer for the ranked climb. But as with all new releases, Riot stepped in once again to knock her down a peg after seeing her insane 1v1 survivability against top lane bruisers. With that in mind, the developers decided to slightly decrease Armor, Attack Damage & Attack Speed base stats, ultimately making her more skill-based during the laning phase.

Next on the chopping block is Shaco, who has been having the time of his life in the cramped Arena battle maps. Moreover, his AP Support role has been a pain to handle in multiple tiers of play. As a solution, Riot decreased his Base Mana Regen and made his W cost 70 Mana “at all ranks.”

Last on our list of notable champ nerfs is Rek’Sai, who saw a total rework on her Q’s scaling. In the Patch 13.16 notes, issues about her early-game prowess were raised. To combat these, Riot modified her ‘Queen’s Wrath’ ability to rank up as Total Attack Damage instead, which will serve to decrease her offensive output until she reaches level 13.

LoL Patch 13.16 Notes – Buffed Champions

Caitlyn’s so-so performance on the tri-lane map was still missing something, the devs felt. As a result, Riot lessened the amount of auto attacks she’ll need before dealing a critical strike. Piltover’s Peacemaker now needs only 6 autos before she performs a headshot. But while only her and Lucian’s were the only ADC passives to be buffed in the LoL Patch 13.16 notes, botlaners are nothing without their Support.

Milio’s strong peel have had tremendous presence on the Rift in lower tiers despite suffering nerfs in the last few patches. That said, the balance engineers wanted to further maximize his gold earnings in solo queue, which meant shifting focus towards his AEO heal ability ‘Warm Hugs’ for that assist money.

Huge base stat changes can be seen in the midlane as well, with Sylas finally getting the Mana pool bump he deserves (310 > 400). Ekko’s also getting some significant buffs, with a sizeable 10% Magic Damage increase across all ranks on his Q. But what takes the cake is his ‘Parallel Convergence’ update, which now grants Ekko way more survivability (30 Shield Strength increase per upgrade!)
