With just two weeks of play left, it was all to play for in Week Seven of the LEC Spring Split.
The penultimate weekend of normal LEC action, with some major games in the playoffs taking place. Could Excel continue to push, would MAD break their losing streak, and could Fnatic close the gap on Rogue? With matches between G2 and Misfits as well, the top four spots are getting heated. With just six spots to play for, it already looks like either Vitality or MAD is going to miss out but which one will it be?

Misfits v Vitality
First blood secured by Misfits, in a game that Vitality just simply needed to win. The game goes passive after the first kill, with Misfits maintaining a slim 300g lead into the 10th-minute. Three minutes later, a 1-for-1 fight is traded over, with neither side gaining an advantage. Vitality was able to win the next fight, pushing through the top side, securing three important kills. They would move into a gold lead moments later, picking up another kill and breaking into the Misfits base. As we moved into the mid-game, Vitality was able to halt Misfits’ taking of the Soul Drake. They moved to a 4k lead shortly after. Misfits just cannot get back into the game, with Vitality continuing to dominate into the 26th-minute.
With Baron up, Misfits were forced to try and make something happen but once again Vitality was the team to come out on top. Vitality secured a free Baron at the 32-minute mark as they moved to a 7k lead. With Baron, Vitality secured three inhibitors as they looked to end. Misfits couldn’t stop the advance, as Vitality secured an easy victory in the end.

SK Gaming v Astralis
First blood is over to Astralis, in a must-win game if they want to retain any hope of playoffs. For a game with just one kill at the 15-minute mark, Astralis had managed to carve out a 3.5 lead. Finally, the kills began to fly as SK picked up a kill. Sadly for them, they lost a bot lane inhibitor tower in return, as Astralis remained comfortably in the lead. Astralis continued to dominate the map, extending to 8k ahead, with SK struggling to answer their aggression. Astralis breeze to victory as they keep their unlikely playoff run alive. SK remains in contention but this wasn’t the result they needed.

Rogue v Excel
Rogue picked up a double kill, with one traded back to Excel as Rogue looked to spoil Excel’s playoff party. They kept up the pressure as they moved to a 2.5k lead at the 13-minute mark. They continued to advance their lead, moving to 5k ahead by the 20-minute mark, with Excel desperately trying to hang in. Baron was secured by Rogue as they looked to end in swift fashion. They’re able to break through the Excel bottom-lane but retreated after claiming the inhibitor. A second Baron was secured by Rogue, despite Excel making a last-ditched attempt to steal it. With the buff, Rogue charged into the Excel base to secure an important win. Excel are still on track for playoffs but they’ll need to do it during Super Week.

Team BDS v G2 Esports
First blood is secured by BDS in the mid-lane. G2 quickly fired back, picking up a kill and a first tower as they moved into the lead. Despite the lack of action, G2 had quietly taken down four towers and secured a 4k lead with Baron just spawning. It would take until the 28th-minute for the Baron fight to finally happen, and while G2 looked to have secured it, they gave a 50/50 over to BDS who stole it. With BDS also able to steal the Soul Drake away from G2, they looked to have found a moment to delay the game. Sadly for BDS caPs were able to secure a quadra kill as G2 won the game off that play. The victory keeps G2 in contention at the top, while it means BDS are out of the playoffs.

MAD Lions v Fnatic
First blood for MAD, though Fnatic had secured a 500g lead despite that. With the help of a first tower, MAD swung the gold lead back to 1k in their favor. MAD continued to hold their slim lead, with the Drakes split 2-for-2 and Baron in play, the game was tightly poised. Baron was secured by Fnatic, who were able to use it to gain a 3k lead. The lead had increased to 5k by the time Baron ended, with Fnatic also able to move onto Soul Point. A big team fight at 31-minutes would see Fnatic claim the game. They found the fight, and with MAD on long death timers and their base exposed, they secured victory. The loss means that MAD’s hopes of making the playoff were almost over, with Super Week truly needing to live up to the name.
